"This road is so windy. And windy." Arina said. "Took the words right out of your mouth, huh, Ros?" She smirked as the rest of us laughed and Rosla blushed.
"Yeah, these mountain winds are pretty brutal." I said after the laughter died down a bit. "I'm a vampire and I'm cold. I had no idea it was this stinking cold." Ventus ran past me without his coat on, grinning.
"I don't know, this feels kind of nice." He said. We all stopped and looked at him. "What?" He said.
"You're practically a lizard. A cold blooded creature. You shouldn't even be able to move right now."
We didn't see it, but we felt it. A pulse of magic. And then another. They seemed to be coming from inside each of us and all around us at the same time. Before we collapsed, I remembered thinking it was like the land had a heartbeat and connected it with Ventus. Then everything went black.
I woke up hours later to a canvas sky with no wind. No, that wasn't right. We were in a tent, under furs. Sitting outside the tent was a, well, I didn't know what he was. I drew my mace.
"Who are you?" He didn't seem surprised that I would draw my weapon on him. He raised his arms, a gesture only one of us would know. "Ventus?" He nodded.
He'd changed. He looked human with dragon features. Black wings. Scales on his temples going down to his cheeks and on his arms down to his wrists. Curved horns coming from his head. A spiked tail. Clawed feet. And to top it off, his eyes seemed to reflect a fire that burned deep within him.
"Dragonborn, meet the dragon prince. I'm the half dragon son of Alduin."
I looked around at the others and was so shocked I sat down hard. We'd all switched races. Rosla was a Breton, Arina was a Khajit, Celesty was still a wood elf but I could sense that her skills were different, Ri'nara and Tsapi were little High Elven girls and I was a High Elf. I looked at Ventus for an explanation.
"Well, since we're all here, I guess I should tell you all the story of what happened...."
