"Headmistress I think I can speak for all of us when I say that someone is out trying to take powers from students." A deep voice said as Melody, Rowan, and Alice entered the Headmistress office.
It had been a few days after they were all told about Jay's conditions and the Headmistress had asked for them to come into. Melody thought this was going to be about her request with her but when she noticed Rowan and Alice was there it was about something unrated.
Melody looked up at the man pacing back and forth. He stopped and smiled at them for a second and quickly walked over to the window. The Headmistress waved the three to come closer. When they were just a foot away from her desk she spoke.
"I take it that you heard what happened last week?" She said standing up from where she was sitting, when she did the chair squeaked. She sighed, "Jay isn't healing as well as we thought. We are going to have to send Jay to the sistering school in Georgia. This way Jay gets the right care to help them heal from this. But that's not all I wanted to tell you."
The tree exchanged questioning glances to each other. Were they somehow in trouble for what happened last week? Had someone overheard them in the dining hall? Melody had know idea and neither did Alice. However, Rowan's smirk on his face told them that he knew exactly what was happening.
"They don't need to be involved with this task, it's too dangerous." The man blurted out, "We have this under control." he slammed his hand on the windowsill. "Their only first years."
"Triston I believe they could handle this! The board already agreed with it." The headmistress added. "They already showed that they are capable of doing this."
"Yea dad, We can totally handle this." Rowan smiled at Triston.
"Dad?" Melody whispered to Alice and she nodded at her.
"See Triston, your son agrees that they can handle a little watching the campus." The Headmistress added sweetly. "What do you say guys?"
Melody took a big gulp of air unable to say anything about what was going on. She was still a little bit overwhelmed by what happened last week and was still trying to get help herself, plus her magic hadn't been wanting to show any signs of working when she needed it. Alice smiled and grabbed Melody's hand. Melody happily smiled back knowing that Alice was going to make sure she got the help she needed, she felt lucky to have such a friend like Alice.
"What exactly is it that you want us to do?" Melody asked while looking back and forth at Rowan's dad and the Headmistress. Rowan's dad huffed as he left the room and slammed the door behind him.
"Don't worry about dear old dad." Rowan said after the door shut. "I'll talk to him about this, but I can tell that this is going to pass after he stops worrying. All we are doing is keeping our eyes and ears out for any more attacks or any suspicious characters."
"Yes. Basically you all and a few higher up students will be watching the dorms, classrooms, the lunch room and outside campus." The head added, "With this being said you three has shown me how selfless and how great you are together. When you found yourselves in a pickle and got out of, it told me that you are able to work together to solve the mystery of these attacks. We do have teaching staff watching the school and Rowan's father, Mr. Richwood, has put together a night watch team plus alarms within the protective barriers around the campus. Just if something were to get through them. "
"What if we were to run into the so-called 'something'?" Alice asked with air quotes.
Melody worried about this and was thinking about asking but Alice had already spoken up. She just stood there watching and listing.
