The night was cold and the wind was blowing, a harsh storm was approaching. Melody was running home, she thought someone was following her. After seeing what had happened to that young boy in the alleyway and getting spotted, she ran for her life. Not looking back, she ran home which was fifteen minutes away from her high school. The sound of footsteps behind her kept her running faster and faster. Finally, after not hearing them she stopped, she could feel her heart about to rip out of her rib cage. She couldn't believe she ran half of a mile without stopping.

She looked around to see if the person she saw in the alleyway was still near or watching her. "Thank god, no one is following me," she said through her rapid breathing. Noticing that no one was around she could walk the rest of the way home.

The rain began to pour and she didn't have an umbrella. Her clothes and shoes were soaked and her hair was a big wet mess.

"Great, now I'm going to get sick!" rolling her eyes with frustration.

She walked for about five minutes before spotting her home. She could see the lights on in her house, this meant that her mom was home from work. Normally her mom didn't get home until Rose, her older sister got home from college. Unfortunately Rose wasn't home when she got to the driveway, she could tell Rose wasn't there yet because her yellow bug wasn't parked by.

Melody walked up to the porch and took off her dripping wet shoes and headed inside. Melody put her hands in her pockets looking for her keys.

"Damn it. I left them on my nightstand, again," she said with disappointment.

This was the third time this week she had forgotten to take her keys. Her mom was already mad at her for leaving without doing the dishes this morning plus she was late for dinner. She stayed at the library after her normal school hours. The thing is that Melody didn't really like being home alone for five hours, she hated home. The yelling her sister and mom did every night that Rose would get home from "school", which Melody knew when her sister said that she'd been at school late for a study group that meant she was either on a date or at a party. Melody didn't want her mom to know that she left her keys, so she went to her bedroom window to see if she left it unlocked from her last adventure.

She took off the screen that was in the way of her attempt to get inside without getting caught by her mother. She took the top off with ease, but the bottom was always harder to pop off. "Come on you stupid thing!" she said as she pulled. "Come on." she was getting frustrated with it. Pop!

"Finally, the damn thing comes off." She laid the screen up against the side of the house and began to open the window. It didn't budge. She pushed up harder, still, nothing moved. "Just my luck. Now I have to call mom to let me in. she'll be pissed." she said with her head to the window.

The heat from her head caused the glass to fog up. Even though it had stopped raining the air smelled damp. Melody looked at the fogged up glass and started to make a sad face on it. The sad face faded into a blur and she began to picture what happened to the boy in the alleyway.

"How could someone beat a boy that age? What did they want with him?" Then she wiped the blur into a handprint. She walked back to the front door, as she was about to knock when the sound of an old car drove up to the house. She turned around to see that it was Rose.

Melody was so happy to see her, she was home on time for once. "Oh, you're a lifesaver, Rosie! I left my keys again and mom's already mad at me for the dishes in the sink," she said as Rose locked her car door.

Rose was the perfect older image of Melody. She had long light brown hair that was straightened by her straightener, light green eyes and honey skin with the perfect body shape. Unlike Melody, Rose never kept her hair natural or had freckles, but if you ever met them you would think they were twins.
