Melody woke up looking at her clock; she noticed that it was three in the morning. Looking over to the left of her, she saw her sister Rose was sound asleep. She looked peaceful. Melody didn't want to wake her sleeping sister, so she tried her best not to shake the bed. Getting to her feet she put on her slippers that were under her bed and headed to the door. No one else was up, and the house was silent and cold. As the door opened it squeaked, which caused Rose to shift in the bed. "Shh," Melody quietly hushed herself.

She walked to the kitchen to get a glass of ice water. Still, with the thought of being a witch, she wondered if there was an easier way to get it. She giggled at the thought.

"That would be cool and I wouldn't have to get out of bed." Suddenly, there was this feeling that someone was watching her from behind. Turning to look at the window next to the front door, she saw something that was looking straight at her, with green glowing eyes. The figure looked shocked and then ran away from the house. Running out the door, Melody watched as it disappeared from view.

"What the crap was that?" She hoped it wasn't watching her sleep; the thought of that sent shivers down her spine. Being creeped out she headed back inside, before entering the house she looked back to make sure the thing she saw wasn't returning.

"Weird." Walking into the house, Rose stood there looking sleepy.

"What are you doing up so early, Mel?" she said with a yawn.

"Nothing, you know the early bird gets the worm. At least that's what mom says." Melody didn't want her to worry, so she kept what she saw to herself.

"Okay, if that's what you think. I'm going to get a shower. Make sure mom is up too, she is the one that is normally up at this hour." Rose waved her hands as she headed into her room to get ready.

Walking down the hall to where her mother's room was, she noticed the lights on.

"Mom are you up?" she knocked on the door, there was no reply. She knocked again, but harder.

"Mom are you okay?" she asked as she opened the door. Melody could see that her mother was getting ready, but not the normal way. She had her hair up in a big blonde bun and she was wearing a pink dress that flowed. She also put red lipstick on that complemented her blush pink cheeks.

"Why are you dressed up so nicely?" Melody asked. Her mother was shocked at the sight of her daughter watching her get ready.

"Oh, I wanted to look my best on our first day in the Enchanted Forest. There are a lot of Magicalians in the Government of Magic that live there. They make the magic laws by the way." She looked in the mirror to check her make-up.

"I figured," Melody said, rolling her eyes at her mom's comment. Remembering why they were up this early, she added: "Mom, I thought we were going shopping, not site-seeing?"

"Yes, yes. We are. You need to get ready yourself. Go on I'll have breakfast ready before we leave." Pushing her nosey daughter out of her room. Still, the question of why her mother was getting all dolled up kept returning to Melody's head.

Melody entered her room to get ready. She picked out her normal attire, skinny jeans with a black t-shirt and her favorite light blue Chuck-Taylors. She put a light grey jacket around her waist, just in case it was colder than yesterday or if it rains. She was ready to go.

Looking into the mirror she said, "I will never change my normal style, even if I meet royalty." She left her room with confidence that no one and nothing was going to change her, not even this new life.

The family was ready to go, they got in the car and headed off. They drove towards the north side of town, where there was nothing but forests and lakes.

"This might seem like we're in the middle of nowhere, but-" interrupting her mom Melody asked, "Are you sure this is the way? I think this is the middle of nowhere. Like there is nothing but trees," She said looking from the corner of her eyes.

"Melody, that's the point. So no humans can get in."

Spotting a sign that read "Dead End" the car came to a stop.

"We are here!" A big smile came across her mother's face. Melody, on the other hand, had the face of confusion.

"Mom are you crazy! This sign literally says 'Dead End' I think that's an actual sign that we are lost."

Walking to the end of the road, her mother stopped and started saying something in Latin.

"Aperi forcefield luminis!"

Within seconds there was a blanket of blue lights and a light breeze. It was a passageway to the Enchanted Forest.

"Wow, this is amazing." Looking at the beautiful scenery of the magical land, Melody was speechless. There were lots of houses in the distance and people. The hill practically sang songs to the village. The sky was even different from the one outside of the force-field, bright blue with lovely clouds of white. It was like a fairy-tale land.

"Rosie would kill me if I tell her she missed this site."

"I've missed this place so much. I can't wait for you to meet Lydia Zonhide, she is a friend of mine." Melody's mom interrupted her daydream.

"How long are we staying here because I don't mind this view at all. I could stay here for years," Melody asked without taking her eyes off the sky.

"Come on let's go!" Melody's mother grabbed her arm and ran to the village.

From far away the houses looked smaller, but up close they were huge. Not all of them were houses, some were stores or bakeries. There one was even a pet store, but not the normal pets you buy. Melody could see that there were tiny dragons, owls, and a three-eyed dog-like creature that was siting outside the building with a man that was wearing a red hat was selling them. Picking up a strange aura, Melody kept a good distance from the odd man.

The place was full of people walking in and out of buildings and towns. Children ran up and down the path with toys in their hands. Some of the people there were different too, some had colorful skin, animal like features and more. There was one person who had blue skin and ruby red hair. Melody could tell some of them were half-animal as they ran by, she could see their canine teeth and cat ears on top of their heads. This was a place for all magical beings to be.

Walking more into town they stopped and her mom pointed out a few important buildings.

"There's where we will get your books for your classes and notebooks. And when we are done there we can go to see Lydia. She has my old portable cauldron. She is also a Robestress, she makes the best robes in the Magicalian world." Enthralled, she continued smiling big at her daughter.

Melody was excited to look at the world she'd only dreamed of, but the good feeling was suddenly gone. Looking behind her she could tell someone was watching her. The same glowing green eye that she met outside her house, was watching her again. What did it want with her? And why was it following her?
