"Put that back, we're not getting them."Niki gave you a pout, begrudgingly placing the bag of chocopie back in their aisle before he walked right beside you with a loud and long sigh.
You looked at him, frowning. "What's that sigh for?"
He simply stared up ahead, not even daring to give you a second glance as he pushed the cart with you.
"Nothing."
You took a few ramen bundles when you reached their aisle, gingerly inspecting their expiration date and putting them on the cart when they were fine.
"You know you literally bought four full packs of chocopie the last time we had grocery shopping right?" You faced Niki, raising your brows as you watched him take a box of a dozen of eggs, placing them in the cart next to the ramen.
"And when was that? Last week?"
Niki huffed, crossing his arms over his chest. "I only have a pack left. And it won't last long."
"Then learn how to control eating them."
Niki simply rolled his eyes.
This brat.
Grocery shoppings were almost as normal as it can get. Although there were a few times that you want nothing to do with it and simply sprawl out on your bed, you knew you had to get that chore done.
You'll obviously starve if you don't.
And those days were happening today, unfortunately. You had just finished up four quizzes for today in which you miraculously survived, although you weren't too sure with their final scores, you were just gonna hope for the best.
Coming after the stress and anxiety of the tests was feeling lethargic and the need to do absolutely nothing, sit on your couch and drown yourself with unhealthy, salty snacks while binge watching your favorite movies and you could add cuddles with Niki to those bunch.
However, to the most unfortunate events, groceries were running low in the cupboards and refrigerator of your shared apartment hence the trip to the nearest grocery market.
Only if the trip itself was easier said than done, if only there wasn't much of a bothersome traffic, you would've been honestly in a better mental mood right now too.
"Can I just buy a bag of sweets then?" You glanced at Niki, gently placing a bottle of vegetable oil in the cart.
You sighed. "Fine, but just a bag of them, alright?"
A wide smile etched on Niki's lips as he began bouncing on his feet with mirth, grinning wide before dropping a peck on your forehead before he scurried off, running towards the aisle where the sweets were located.
You simply shake your head. His Mother had specifically told him to consume a little bit of sweets from the last video call, but it was obvious that his Mom's words were plainly neglected seeing how enthusiastic he was when you let him have his way.
You sighed and moved to the veggie section instead, grabbing your leafy greens, potatoes and carrots but scrunching your nose when you spotted fresh green beans.
Eww, green beansㅡoh! Peppers!
ㅡ
"Have a good night!" You tucked your wallet back into your bag, waving a little to the girl at the cashier check before getting dragged by Niki going towards the automatic doors.
"You too have a good one!"
"Good night!"
The city night was unusually peaceful when the two of you left the grocery store, trudging down the sidewalk hand in hand.
Niki tugs on your free arm, puppy eyes crossing his look with his lips jutted out.
"What?" He pointed towards a nearby establishment using his lips.
You followed the direction where he was pointing, spotting a warm and cozy-looking cafe in the opposite streets.
"Can we go there?" Niki pleads, tugging your arm once more.
"Pretty please?"
As far as you can remember, you've been in that cafe about two times. They were one of the few establishments who made you a cup of caffeine goodness and delectable sweets that made your mouth water just by reminiscing of how good they looked, how delicious they tasted. However, those two times that you've visited the cafe was during the night of your grocery shopping spree where you have to spend a limited time inside the cozy cafe, anxious of being left by the bus.
But looking at Niki's watch now, it wasn't that late to not catch the second or third bus to your street. So with a small smile, you nodded and began walking towards the opposite street, letting the taller boy drag you along with him.
"Finally! Some more sweets!"
Oh boy.
