Warm lights radiated off from your open living room, flooding the kitchen space with faint lights as you busied yourself with washing the dishes. Beside you standing was Jake, patiently waiting for the clean and wet utensils so he can properly dry them off with the kitchen towel.
The faint sound of music coming from his phone on the kitchen counter top resonated off in the whole room, giving the atmosphere a more intimate vibe as you both finished off the dishes in silence.
It was your second year anniversary. Thinking back to the first time you celebrated the same event last year made you think of preparing home made dinner for the both of you. Jake wasn't usually with you, you see. Most of his days are filled with schedules promoting with his group, attending comeback shows or going overseas for months to do concerts in different cities, different countries.
And as much as you'd hate not having him around like how he normally would a few years before his participation in I-LAND and debuting as a member of Enhypen, the bloosoming growth within him made you push those thoughts aside, and instead, savoring the feeling of being a proud partner seeing him grow out of his introverted phase (well, almost).
Jake was an important person to you as much as his passion to perform and create music is for him. And the least you'd want is to let those selfish thoughts consume you inside and hinder him from achieving more milestones whether or not you're there with him physically or not.
As for him, Jake would want nothing but to simply wish for you to be there with him every single time of the day but knowing your guys' relationship, that thought for him would be nothing but a simple wish upon a star; perhaps maybe in a few more years, he could finally go out with you in public without having the need to worry about fans mobbing him or having some of them to hurt you (which he knew was likely, especially the aggressive ones, the infuriating ones), and to say that he was anticipating for that day to come was an understatement.
Drying the last piece of plate, you gingerly passed it to Jake, stifling a laugh seeing the distant look in his eyes as he focused them in the sliding door to your backyard, lips gently mouthing the lyrics of the song that played from his phone. When he still wasn't taking the plate from you, you waved the dish in front of his face that, of course, took him out from his daydream and whatever.
"A penny for your thoughts?" You teased, walking over to the fridge to take two tubs of your's and his favorite flavored ice cream.
Jake placed the last piece of plate on the rack, letting it dry off some more together with the other ones before approaching your figure who sat on the counter top near the fridge after taking two spoons with him. He stood in the middle of your thighs, back facing you as he took the ice cream tub that you offered him.
"Should we watch a movie or something?" He asked, scooping some of the cold goodness from his tub. "We could watch that one movie you like so much or something."
"Popcorns or chips?"
"Chips and cola?"
You scrunched your nose. "Don't you have practice tomorrow morning?"
Jake faced you, pursing his lower lip as he whined. "Buuut the chips and the cooooola!"
"Dude no. I can't risk you having stomach ache."
"But doesn't that mean I could stay home with you then?" He prodded, pushing his almost empty tub towards yours to compare. "Aw. Mine's almost finished."
Tapping his nose, you lightly pushed him aside before standing back up in the floor. You began walking towards your living room. "Chips only Jakeㅡ or cookies." You faced him to point a finger. "I have those vegan, healthy ones somewhere inside the drawers but no cola and water only okay? Water."
You left him in the kitchen to prepare for the movie; like grabbing blankets and pillows (a hefty of them) from your room because you knew how much Jake loved to go overboard with them. He likes to get cozy and warm during movie nights that it was almost a practice for you to do so every time you prep for the movies.
When you came back to the living room, an array of the vegan snacks that you wanted to try and hence you purchased most of them welcomed your sight first. It was all scattered on the coffee table top that you had as a centerpiece of the living room.
"I got the goods!"
You lightly glared at Jake who entered the frame, carrying a few more of the unhealthy version of your chips. "I'm gonna ran out of snacks if you keep on doing this." You chided. "And you weren't supposed to eat this many chips and snacks remember?"
He pouted, dropping the bags of chips on the table, some falling onto the ground as he crouched down to pick them up. "But I only do this a handful of times!" Jake sat on the floor, opening one bag of the vegan pretzels.
"Yeah, and that handful of times are every single time you'd come over. And who's to say that you're not doing this back at your dorm?" You offered him a hand out as you remained standing near the edge of the couch. "Give me. You can eat two bags only and water."
Pulling the snacks near to his chest and hugging them close, Jake stubbornly shakes his head. "No."
"Jake."
"No."
"Jake, yes."
"Jake, no."
"Sim Jaeyun."
Oh oh. You used his full nameㅡ
Jake visibly gulped. It was never a good sign when you'd use his full korean name. It either serves as a warning or would hint that you're fully irritated with him. Fingers crossed, he hoped it was the former. He'd never want to make you angry and upset with him especially on a day like this. So with a sigh and a frown, he gave back the rest of the snacks to you, deciding to keep the vegan pretzels that he already opened and a bag of doritos.
"Here." He spoke as he handed you the snacks, voice coming out small and meek.
You sighed. "You can have a cup of juice but just a cup. Still a no for the cola okay?" You took the bags and left the living room with a grinning Jake in tow. He opened your fridge to see the selection of the available drinks you have despite seeing them multiple times this day. He took a bottle of orange juice, showing it to you whilst you placed the bag of snacks bag inside your drawers.
"A bottle of orange juice?"
"I said a cup Jake, what if you get stomach ache or something?"
He raised a playful brow. "More reasons to stay home then I guess." He shrugged before twisting the cap open and taking a sip before opening his arms out to you. "Come on baby, the movie night's not gonna start itself."
Sighing, you simply nodded before following after him in the living room. You knew better than to convince him otherwise about the drink. He can be hard headed when he wants and that showed a few instances during this night that you couldn't even bother anymore.
"If you get stomach ache later in the day, don't come whining at me."
Jake groaned. "You're my girlfriend, not my health therapist or something."
"Should I take that profession so I can bother you with what you're eating and whatnot?"
"Baby I just want my girlfriend, not some healthy diet instructor doctor."
Guess it's safe to say that your two year anniversary ended a little more chaotic than you would've expected.
