The pungent smell of rainwater in puddles scattered all around the streets filled your nose, making you scrunch your face up as you continue to walk.

The city night life was blossoming in the heart of the city, a couple of streets down from where you were at. The loud blast of music sounding off and the vibrations that could be felt against the wall accompanied by the faint sound of people's shouts reached your ears.

With a sigh, you took your keys out of your wallet before inserting it in the key hole of your apartment door. But before you could head in, a familiar pristine, velvety black box-which you assumed was worth more than your rent-was sat in front of your door, beside your potted plant Junie.

You took the box in your hand before pushing your door open and locking it right after you went it.

These gifts have been going on for over a whole two weeks and a half and counting, ever since that one night where your life turned upside down.

"Glad to see that you received the package."

You released a yelp, almost dropping the box as you squinted your eyes against the darkness that swarmed in your living room. You flicked the light switch open, furrowing your brows as you groaned seeing the familiar face seated in your couch.

"How many times have I told you to not enter my house like this?"

Jake smiled, a fleeting flash of his white canines showing. He stood up and with a gust of black smoke, he was already standing in front of you, holding your bag and apartment keys in his hands. "This is not exactly your house, sweetheart."

You rolled your eyes, walking over to the coffee table before placing the box on the glass top. "We've been through this countless of times Jake. I live here and I will continue to do so until the very day that I move in with someone or something."

"And I have been proposing for you to move in with me," he opposed, placing your things over the couch before he sat himself again. "You're not safe out here alone. Haven't I made that clear?"

"And I told you a thousand of times, I am not gonna move in with you," you ran a palm over your face before walking off to your connected kitchen, gently dropping off the box over your granite counter top. "And my alleged brother, for that matter."

Jake leaned on your couch, releasing a deep sigh as he recalled the many times that you've made your point clear about the matter. Yet he was persistent, just like he always was before in your past lives-your past life. You knew him and his tendencies, it was only a matter of time before your past memories resurfaces and he wants to be there with you once it happens. Going through that process alone was something he knew he would never want you to experience. He just wants to look out for his wife, was there something wrong with that?

Rushing over to you with his inhumane speed with a whiff of roses in his black smoke, Jake got your usual night drink ready on the counter alongside a paper bag of your favorite take-outs down the street.

"You know, Sunghoon would really be delighted if you referred to him as your older brother. He-we-did wait for you for about two hundred years before you were reincarnated," he opened the take-out box with one hand, before reaching over the drawers to retrieve a pair of chopsticks and a cup. "You might not remember it now but Sunghoon treasured you as his younger sister way before you were ever born in your first life and now."

Pushing you the food that he fixed and sensing your sudden silence, Jake cut through the forming tension with a little laugh, walking towards you to wrap your hair in a messy bun on top of your head before planting a chaste kiss on your temple when he was done.
