As the door to Angel's room shut behind her, Angel slid down the wall silently as the tears finally decided to spill from her eyes. Angel thought she had until she was at least 25 before she would have to take the throne, but now it could be so much sooner if her grandfather didn't beat cancer. Sure her friends would be here for her, but Angel felt so alone at this moment as she stared out at the city.

"Why?" Angel whispered, slamming her fist into the floor.

No one in Angel's life knew what it was like to have all this responsibility on their shoulders at such a young age. They had their own stress, but having the fate of an entire country on their shoulders was something that Angel hoped her best friends would never understand. Angel allowed her emotions to flow in this private moment, knowing that her grandfather didn't like when she was hurting.

Angel left a note on the kitchen counter to let whoever found it so that they knew she had stepped out for a little bit before dinner tonight. All anxieties washed away as Angel stepped outside and was surrounded by the cacophony of New York, the city she was in love with.
