As the door to Angel's room shut behind her, Angel slid down the wall silently as the tears finally decided to spill from her eyes. Angel thought she had until she was at least 25 before she would have to take the throne, but now it could be so much sooner if her grandfather didn't beat cancer. Sure her friends would be here for her, but Angel felt so alone at this moment as she stared out at the city.

They had their own stress, but having the fate of an entire country on their shoulders was something that Angel hoped her best friends would never understand. Once Angel had composed herself, she snuck out of the apartment to take some time to herself in the city that made her feel at peace. All anxieties washed away as Angel stepped outside and was surrounded by the cacophony of New York, the city she was in love with.

It helped to be a nobody in New York because it meant Angel didn't need to take guards with her, not that she really needed them. Angel's father made sure that she had spent the majority of her life training in self-defense with some of the best fighters in the world. Angel was a walking weapon all on her own, and they had planned to have her join the military and serve for five years.
