this is like a month after his dad disappeared
You were cuddling John B. It was night. He missed his father. He didn't like to open up or talk about it very much, unless you were the listener. He trusted you more than the other Pogues and he was more comfortable around you.
"(Y/n)," John B said.
"Yeah?" You replied.
"I don't think he's dead..." He said. "My father is the last person that would be lost at sea." You thought about it. He had a point. Big John probably wouldn't be lost at sea. Maybe there was something going on and he wasn't dead.
"You probably think I'm crazy, though, right?" John B asked.
"No, no. Of course not," you replied.
"You think I'm just concocting because I miss him?"
"No. You're right. Big John wouldn't have died at sea. It doesn't add up," you comforted. You weren't sure what to think? but you wanted to help John B feel better.
"Maybe he is dead and I should just accept that," John B said sadly.
"No. He could definitely be alive. Maybe he was kidnapped or something," you replied. You hoped you were helping.
"You really think he's alive?" John B asked.
"Honestly, I don't know. I think it's definitely possible," you replied truthfully.
"That's usually a nice way of saying, 'No. I think you're wrong but I'm gonna pretend like I don't because I don't wanna upset you'," John B said.
"No, no. That's not what I meant. I really do think it's possible. I wouldn't lie to you," you replied.
"I know. I'm sorry. I just miss him."
"I know, baby, I know," you said, stroking his hair gently for comfort.
"You think I'll ever see him again?"
"I don't know. I hope so, though. You deserve to be happy," You replied.
"You make me happy," John B said.
"That was so cheesy," you said after a moment. Both of you busted out laughing.
"Yeah, it was, wasn't it?"
"yUp."
