We went into Sophie's room in Havenfield. Her room never failed to amaze me. The crystal ceilings and the beautiful red curtains were amazing and everything was so neat. In my house everything was always a mess thanks to the triplets. Sophie's closet was half the size of her room and her big bed sat in the center of the space. Flowers were sewn into the floor for security reasons, but it made everything even more beautiful. Biana, Fitz, Sophie, and I plopped on the bed.
"Ok guys, we need to make a plan," I said.
I never get to go on any missions. I always just sit in the background and make everyone the technology while I don't even get to go with them. I mean, it's totally unfair! Sometimes I wish I didn't manifest as a Technopath. But now I actually get to go on a mission. And I'm going to savor every moment of it because chances are, that this is going to be my last mission.
A/N: Pretend that Sophie doesn't know where Amy lives and that she didn't go visit her in Legacy (Same story with the 'forgot about that part until I re-read the series').
"Mr. Forkle and I tried to trace the signal from the Imparter we couldn't trace the exact location. We have a general area though," I told the group.
"So...where is it?" Sophie asked.
"Somewhere called Pacific Heights, in San Francisco," I replied.
Sophie gasped. "Whoa the Council moved them to Pacific Heights?" She cursed under her breath.
"What's wrong with Pacific Heights? It doesn't sound bad," Biana asked.
"That place is huge. Every house there is a mansion, not as big as Elvin houses, but it's also a really big town," Sophie explained.
"How are we going to trace where Amy lives?" Fitz asked.
"Well... when she hailed me she said she was on her way to an ice cream place. And it was walking distance from her house. So Dex, is there anyway you could search up 'ice cream places in Pacific Heights' or something? Or do we have to wait until we get to San Francisco?" Sophie asked.
"Do you have your iPod?" I asked.
"Oh my god! I forgot all about that!" Sophie exclaimed. She ran to her desk across the room and grabbed a tiny rectangular device. She madly typed on the little object.
"There!" she declared. But then she frowned
"Well that doesn't exactly narrow it down," she mumbled as she showed us the phone. I gazed at the long list of ice cream places held before me.
"Lala's Creamery, Salt and Straw, Swenson's--" I read.
Biana gasped. "Wait so ice cream is the thing we had when we went to-- what's it called?-- oh yeah, Italy?"
"Umm you didn't realize that?" Fitz teased.
"That's not what I mean. When we went to Italy and got the ice cream, the person who worked there was able to give us directions. So why don't we go through the list and call each one of them and ask if they've seen Amy?
"Biana... you are a genius," I exclaimed. Biana flushed pink.
"Wait a second. Why would they tell us that? I mean we're just random strangers to them," Fitz pointed out.
"I can mimic my mom," Sophie said. "I've been practicing," she said in her mother's voice.
"Whoa, you're getting really good at that," Fitz told her.
Now it was Sophie's turn to blush. "Thanks."
I rolled my eyes. "Does anyone else feel like vomiting in their mouths with Fitzphie?"
"Me!" Biana said.
"Me too," three other voices said. We whipped our heads back to find Marella, Tam, and Linh standing there.
When they saw us all confused, Tam explained, "Forklenator told us to check your progress. Oh and he also told us to give you a message."
"What message?" I asked.
"You guys will be leaving in... 10 minutes instead of this evening," Tam replied.
"WHAT!" we yelled unanimously. "Why?"
Mr. Forkle strode into the room. "Because we just got news that the Neverseen were spotted in San Francisco. And they already have an idea of where your sister lives."
"So why do we have to leave so soon?" Fitz asked.
"Because," Mr. Forkle continued, "the Neverseen are trying to make it personal again. According to our source, the Neverseen plan on either seriously hurting or killing your family, Sophie."
