Charlie collapsed onto their fluffy bed.
"Are you okay, Apple?" Max looked at him with slight amusement. The blond hadn't even taken off his suit jacket. Or his shoes for that matter. Max decided to put his jacket up on the hook right by the door at least. He would try and undress his mate and get him comfortable after he got his stiff suit off. Suits were nice until you had to wear them all day, every day. It was a good thing they had air conditioning, or they would be much more miserable.
"Please tell me these meetings are over," Charlie mumbled into a pillow. The poor thing was exhausted.
They had been going on with these meetings for months now. The Blood Moon Pack just didn't want to budge on their terms for helping with the rogues. As much as Max admired them for their strength and resilience over the years, they were very stubborn about everything when it came to an agreement.
"I'm sorry, Apple," he sighed. He leaned over the bed to hold him. Even with all the stress of leading about two hundred people, they still always found time for each other. And Charlie was the best stress reliever that he had ever had. "There's still more tomorrow."
"This reminds me of a Filibuster," he melted into him. Max easily took off his mate's jacket and was swiftly taking off the rest.
"A Filibuster?"
"It's something they do in the government," Charlie explained. His muscles were so tense when he got his shirt off. Max quickly massaged them to work out the knots. "They will stand at a podium and talk about anything and everything. They will talk about why you should go with their law or plan, and then they will just talk about everything from the moon and back. The goal is that the other politicians won't be able to stand it anymore and they'll come to an agreement."
"That sounds horrible," he kissed the mark that he made on the blonds neck. It had been such a hard week for both of them. The Alpha of the Blood Moon pack, William, was arguing with Leonard, Alpha of the Harvest Moon pack, about contributions to the rogue matters. They didn't think that the Harvest Moon pack was giving all that it could.
On top of that, they were trying to come to an agreement fast, since Alpha Williams son, Owen, was about to take the title as soon as he found his mate. Owen had turned 18 a few months ago, but had failed to find his mate yet. They all hoped that he didn't have to wait as long as Max did to find him. A new mindset might be good for that pack at the moment.
It had taken a while for William to get used to Charlie as a Luna. He was very much stuck in his own ways, but he still treated him with respect. He treated him like any other person in that meeting room. Max was okay with it, but he had a feeling that his preference was why the Alpha was arguing with everything he had to say.
That's why they wouldn't have any meetings at the Blood Moon packs territory, or anywhere else for that matter. He wanted to keep Charlie safe from all of those hateful glares. And here was where they could be happy.
They smashed all of the last meetings into one week, to finally make an agreement on something. The rogues were starting to organize and attack more than just their pack. Max loved pointing it out to William that it all could have been resolved already if they had formed an agreement.
They started this in February. It was now May. And the frustration of it all was almost enough to make Max forget about getting anyone's help in this matter and take care of them himself. But it was more complicated than that. Because if they took over that territory, there would be fights; wars. And that was something that Max didn't want to do. His family had finally brought the Crescent Moon pack to the glory that it had been so long ago. These were supposed to be their golden age. Starting a war would ruin everything that Max had planned.
