He didn't know?

This man was about to make Max's head spin. He was already a strange sight to see. It wasn't often that there were albino werewolves. They were always seen as weak. But this one wasn't. And that put him on guard even more.

"How do you not know?" he asked him. He knew that those bright red eyes weren't lying. That only made this more confusing. The man hadn't lied to him at all. He had complied easily to every order that he gave.

It wasn't like a rogue to do. They hated their freedom being taken in anyway. But this one gave his so freely. It put him on edge just how willing he was to comply to him.

As much as he wanted to trust these rogues, he wasn't sure about this beta. The way he held himself showed hints that he was trained at some point. And a trained rogue was much more dangerous than untrained.

"I wasn't told," he stated everything so easily to him.

"Dad, are you reading anything off him?" he mind linked with his father. Since it was difficult to read the mysterious man, he had wanted to bring him for a second opinion. Of course, he needed to bring Button, as he needed to get them all checked up on.

Charlie had just begged him to come over and over. Max had tried to argue that it was dangerous, but he failed to realize just how powerful his mate's skills were when it came to arguing.

He now understood how Liam felt.

"Honestly, I'm just as confused as you," His father replied through their thoughts. "All he says is honest, but it's difficult to get any kind of reading off him. All I know is that he must have been traveling for a long time."

"That's what I was thinking," he kept his eyes on Alistair's the entire time he mind linked. The man had pure white skin and muscles that were made for both fighting and running. His face was another thing that stuck out about him. His chin and cheek bones were a defined, though not sharp. He had straight white hair that reached to the middle of his neck. Even his eyelashes and eyebrows were pure white.

Max had met white wolves before. But he had never met one that was an albino. He knew that there was a difference, he just had no idea how great of a difference until now.

"Why did you leave your pack?" he asked. For a Beta, Alistair was extremely passive. He even put his head down when he realized that Charlie was his mate. It wasn't like Max was expecting him to. It actually threw him off rather than anything.

How could a rogue show respect like this? Respect was always earned with werewolves, especially rogues, yet he gave it freely to everyone. Even Desmond and Ray were surprised that he didn't once try and show dominance over them when they had seen him first.

"I was left for dead after an attack," he said. There it was. The little flicker of hurt that Max had been waiting for. The albino was so calm throughout this morning that he wasn't sure if he had any other emotion.

The hurt in his eyes showed for a little while. He blinked vigorously for a little before it went away.

Control.

That's what he had. He had control over his emotions.

"Why?" he kept the brutal eye contact going. He wanted to see him show his human side more. He wanted to solve this mystery as soon as he could. This man was an enigma that was driving him insane.

"They thought I was going to die," Alistair told him, the hurt returning in his eyes. "When I tried going back to them when I was healed, they had already moved on without me."
