It was a normal day in of paperwork for Charlie. He was close to finally finishing off the extra work that had accumulated from all the meetings that had taken place the month before. That was another reason why he was glad that Max and him had finally gotten a day off together. Recently it had been so busy dealing with the aftermath of everything, that they hadn't had much time with each other. They always came back to their suite though.
The suite was something that he hadn't expected when he had become Luna. The Luna and Alpha always get the best room in the mansion. So, they had a lot of moving around to do. At first, he thought that they were taking Max's parents room, but it was actually a spare room on the second floor that had been renovated into a beautiful suite.
And it had a balcony.
He rarely got to use it, much like the one that he had at his old apartment, but it was nice to wake up to the sunlight that shined through it. Max had thought of him when he picked the room. It was yet another birthday present, one that Max didn't give him until a week after his birthday.
He remembered those days fondly. They weren't that long ago, but it seemed that way when he thought about all of what had happened the past few months. He had spent a lot of time with Max that whole month of his birthday. Then there was the rigorous Luna training that he went through. It was two weeks of constant paperwork and werewolf history. Even then, he still didn't know as much as he would like to.
Like he didn't know that this pack used to be so large. He had thought that having a pack of almost three hundred was bad, he couldn't imagine the work that went into dealing with thousands of them. Then again, Max's mom had made a system that worked well, even with a possibility of a quick population increase. That had been the past Alpha's mission during his reign: to grow the pack.
If they had these rogues out of their hair, they would be able to grow faster, with more land to grow on and no dangers lurking in the trees.
"Charlie," Max popped up in his head. "I need you in my office, please."
"I'll be right there," he answered. Isabelle had long gone to take care of her kids, so it was just him again in the office. He didn't like the fact that Max called him to his office, though. There was a tone, even in his thoughts, that worried him. It sounded stressed and frustrated.
He had just helped him deal with that.
He walked across the hall after making sure that his paperwork was all nice and neat. It would throw him off if he went back in there and tried to get right back to what he was doing. It made it easier when it was organized no matter what.
What was going on this time? It seemed like the problems would never stop. They still had rogues to deal with, and he was enjoying the peace that the other packs leaving their territory gave them. Everyone was slowly coming back from there holidays and everything was slowly getting back to their normal pace.
Charlie really hoped that there wasn't another issue with the neighboring packs. The Harvest Moon pack was easy. They were logical and had a modern way of thinking. The Blood Moon pack was the one that liked to butt heads with everyone. They always wanted the most of everything, because they thought it was what they deserved.
What they really deserved was a swift kick in the-
Charlie knocked on the Alpha's door before entering. He always did it just in case there was someone else that Max was talking to in there. He didn't want to just barge in right when they were in the middle of a conversation.
"Come in," he heard Max say. He opened the door to see Dr. Button and his wife, Adelle, in the office. He closed the door before anything was said. It was something that he had grown a habit of since he heard that people liked to eavesdrop on this floor. It was mainly guests, such as the other packs visiting, but it was always better to be safe than sorry.
