"So," Nick started. "When do you think these fun little get togethers of the packs are going to be over?"
"I have no clue!" Katy sighed dramatically. "All I know is that if I have to remake an order one more time, I'm going to lose it!"
"Woah there, tiger," he laughed at his friend. "I don't think the Alpha of the Blood Moon pack would appreciate it if you tore his son a new one."
They had been working longer shifts for the past month just to try and meet all the demands of the visitors that came over. Usually, it was just for a week or two that visitors would come to the pack and they could take comfort in the fact that it wasn't going to be for long. Having a whole month of nothing but being yelled at and working themselves to the bone was exhausting.
Nick didn't mind, though. His family was one that was always up and moving. His mom told him that in India, you always worked hard for what you wanted. The pack that she came from was all about hard work from everyone. But she did recall that the Alpha of that pack was rather lazy. It was always the person at the top of the food chain that would laze around all day.
Of course, these were just things that she had learned from her experience with packs from India. She had no clue about the humans, since they didn't let her go out that much to talk to them. She did tell him that the festivals were beautiful over there. He always wanted to go and see a festival.
"He hates Omegas so much!" Katy said, her hair had turned into a mane again, as she didn't bother brushing it when she took it out of its bun. "I mean, omegas are the foundation of packs. We help keep everything running so that the Alpha doesn't have to. And what does he call us? Worthless pups with no sense of survival!"
"Did he say that to you?" he asked. If he did, he was going to find some way to ring the alphas neck himself. He hated just how high and mighty some of these alphas were. At least, in their pack, they didn't have to deal with that. They were all respected equally.
Like right now, they were all getting paid time and a half for working longer shifts. Nick was planning on saving up for a new car with that money. His old one from his dad was starting to fall apart.
"No," she answered. "I heard one of the maids, Heather, tell someone that he told her that. It was horrible though!"
"I just don't get," he popped a vegetable in his mouth. "Why you would be so disrespectful to a pack that you're visiting." He swallowed. "You'd think that he could reign it in for at least a little while."
They were eating their meal at the dining room that evening. It wasn't like anyone else was using it. At least they only worked the morning shift. Them working longer meant that they were usually out of the kitchen at 3 or 4. Nick loved their dinners that they would have. It was a great time to vent and talk about the days gossip.
"I don't know!" Katy groaned. "All I know, is if I see him, it's going to be really difficult to not try and choke him."
"You do that and we'll really have a war on our hands," Nick laughed. "At least we're getting good money for all of this."
"I don't care about money," she pouted. "Max better throw us all a party when they're gone. That's a true reason to celebrate."
"A party sounds nice," he shoveled more food into his mouth. Kitchen work always made him hungry. "But I think everyone would like some vacation time over a party."
"Oh, I heard from Aldi that Max is already planning on it," she said. "The first person he's going to give a vacation to is Aldi. He's already planning on going to a hotel with his wife to get away for a while."
