Chapter Fourteen

When training ended, I headed home with my dad to wash up for my date with Hawk tonight. I first decided on ripped skinny jeans and a crop top, but as I looked at myself in the mirror, I became too self conscious to wear it. I decided to wear leggings and my new Cobra Kai sweatshirt to cover up my insecurities. I straightened my hair and did some light makeup before heading out to the kitchen.

"You look nice" my dad said as he retrieved a beer from the fridge.

"Thanks"

"I suppose you're going out with Hawk?"

".........maybe" I smiled.

"I don't want to be too much of a pain, but to avoid becoming a grandfather, I want you home by 10pm at the latest"

I rolled my eyes and agreed. I heard my phone go off, Hawk had texted that he was parked outside. I said goodbye to my dad and headed for the door.

"Shouldn't you eat before you go?" My dad asked.

"Uh- I'll be fine" I replied. I was already feeling insecure enough, eating would only make me feel worse. I was starving though. I brushed it off and headed for the car.

When we arrived at Golf N' Stuff, we quickly made our way over to the mini golf. The sun had set and bright lamp posts lit the course instead. I managed to beat Hawk with my intense mini golf skills. My dad used to bring me here all the time as a kid, I would be surprised if I wasn't winning. Try after try, Hawk continued to fail and we both laughed. After mini golf, we headed inside to the arcade and played a variety of games like, ski ball, table hockey, the fun dance game from the kissing booth (idk what it's called), and more. I was enjoying my time with Hawk, he always managed to make me smile. We took out tickets to the front to get our prizes.

"What would you like Princess?" he asked.

I laughed and began to look at my options and finally decided.

"I want that guy" I said as I pointed to the giant Sloth stuffed animal.

"Sloth, interesting" he said as the lady graciously handed my the large Sloth.

Hawk gave me a peck on the lips before we headed out of the prize center, sadly running into Miguel and Sam.

"Oh hey guys" Miguel said

"Hey what are you two doing here?" Hawk asked. I tried my hardest to avoid eye contact with Sam.

"We're actually on a date" she smiled.

God I hated her, especially seeing her with Miguel.

The conversation soon became awkward. I could feel tension beginning rise between all four of us.

"Well, I guess we'll see you guys around" Hawk said as he pulled us out of the prize room and back to the arcade. I was glad to know that he would always be there to help me out of those situations. It's like he could read my mind.

"Thanks"

"Don't mention it, I don't like Sam that much either. It's that stupid Miyagi-Do" he said as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder, causing me to bit my lip.

"Come on, lets play a few more games" I said as I dragged him over to one of the little basketball games.

I sucked at this game and Hawk started to take pity on me as I attempted to throw the ball.

"Does someone need a little help?" He laughed.

"Oh shut up" I said as I tried again, but failed terribly.

"Come on let me help you"

He got behind me and placed his hands on mine and guided them to toss the ball correctly, actually making it into the hoop this time.

I laughed in surprise and looked back to him.

"See, wasn't that easy" he laughed

We continued on with the game with a score of 26 to 9. You can probably figure out who won.

As we walked outside, we passed by a photo booth. I could tell Sam and Miguel were in there by their laughter and also because their pictures started to fall out of the slots. They looked so happy together, especially Miguel. I would hate to see Sam break his heart. We walked outside and sat on a bench and continued to chat.

"I was wondering if you maybe wanted to be my plus one to bring a friend week next week?" I asked.

"At dance?"

"Yeah"

"No, no way in hell am I going to do that girly shit"

"What- it is not girly shit. You're just too scared you're going to make a fool of yourself in front of all those little girls."

"I see, and what if I go in there and all of those little girls start fawning over me?" he laughed.

"Well your son and I will no longer be associating with you if you do not give a valid answer" I laughed as I referred to the sloth.

"Wait, your gonna take full custody of Barry?!"

I nodded as I waited for an answer.

He took a while to think about it and finally agreed to come if I promised not to tell anyone at school about it. Of course I agreed to his deal and quickly wrapped my arms around him.

"Besides, who cares if I'm bad at ballet. I'm practically the best in our karate class" he laughed.

"Really? Says who?"

"Sensei"

"Oh really? The sensei who told you to 'watch yourself' the other day?"

"In my defense that had nothing to do with karate, I was just sleeping with his incredibly hot daughter" he said as he connected our lips. It was passionate in every way possible. He bit my bottom lip and as a way to tease him I did the same.

"You better watch yourself Miss. Lawrence" he said before reconnecting our lips. I enjoyed every second of it until I could hear Sam and Miguel laugh. I broke away from the kiss to see what they were being so loud about. They were a few benches away from us and they were practicing karate on each other. Sam has pinned Miguel to the ground and eventually kissed him. I could feel a pit grow in my stomach.

"Come on, it's getting late, why don't we head home" Hawk suggested. I continued to look at them and soon Hawk grabbed my face to face him. "She's the enemy, she's just doing this to get under our skin before the tournament." He said.

I nodded my head and took his hand as we got up. I could feel my stomach staring to growl at me in anger because I hadn't eaten in a while. The past few days I had been eating the bare minimum and was practically surviving on water. My vision started to become a blur and soon enough, everything was spinning around me. I collapsed onto the ground and slowly started to drift off. I could hear Hawk scream for help and continued to ask me if I was ok. Miguel and Sam came into my vision as well. I guess they must have seen me fall and became concerned. Sam was the first to call for help. Maybe she wasn't such a bitch after all. Hawk continued to reassure me that everything was going to be ok. Eventually his voice died down and I was out cold.
