Chapter Thirty Seven

It had been a few days since I found out about Miguel. I hadn't seen him yet, but I really wanted to. I didn't want to visit him without his mother's permission. My dad made a visit to Miguel yesterday. I wasn't happy about this because he did it behind Miguel's mothers back. He was just making things worse between them. From what my dad told me, Miguel hated him. There was even a chance he might not be able to walk again. As you can imagine, this crushed me.

I quickly got dressed and bolted out the door when I heard Mrs. Diaz walk outside. I quickly stopped her before she got in her car.

"Hi Blair" she smiled.

"Hi Mrs. Diaz. I was wondering if I could talk to you for a second"

"You'll have to make it fast, I'm on my way to visit Miguel"

"That's actually what I wanted to talk to you about." I tried to find the best words to win her over. "I really wanna see Miguel, but I didn't want to visit him without your permission. I'd hate to make things worse"

"Oh sweetie. I have nothing against you, but I'm happy you asked for my permission. I can take you with me if you'd like?"

"I'd love that" I said as I gave her a hug, thanking her.

We drove to the hospital and I gave her a moment to talk to Miguel alone. When she came out of the room, she said it was ok for me to go in now.

"Hey" I smiled.

"Hey"

"How are you feeling?"

"I'll survive" he laughed.

I was so happy to see his smile. I couldn't help but feel a bit sad though as I looked at his condition.

"I have a surgery on Friday. Some doctor from out of state who supposedly works miracles."

"That's great, right?"

"I'm not getting my hopes up. The surgery costs a ton and my moms gonna be in debt. And there's no guarantee that it'll work-"

"I'm sure my family can help. I'll even look into my college savings if it comes to that"

"Blair-"

"Just let me help, please" I begged.

He sighed.

"Is that from Tori" he said, referring to the bruising on my shoulder.

"Oh yeah, it's not as bad as it looks"

"I'm sorry about that"

"You didn't do anything, besides, she's the one who decided to go crazy"

"Tori's had a tough life"

I sighed, not wanting to fight him on this.

"If it's anyone's fault, it's mine"I said as I held his hand.

"No it's not. I should have just told you I still had feelings for you, rather than leading Tori on. I wanted to kiss you that night" he admitted.

"I did too"

It was true. I did want to kiss Miguel that night. I was confused and drunk. I never realized it until now. Maybe Miguel was always the right choice.

We were rudely interrupted by Hawk.

"El Serpiente!" He said before realizing I was in the room.

"I'm gonna go" I said to Miguel before leaving the room. Hawk grabbed onto my arm before I could leave.

"What the hell do you think you're doing here?" He asked.

"Why do you care?"

"It's your idiotic brothers fault that he's in here"

"Fuck off"

I said before leaving.

I was greeted with my dad when I got home.

"Hey, what's up?"

"We're gonna visit Robby tomorrow"

"What?!" My mind became flooded with questions. "Where is he? Is he ok? How long have you known where he was?"

"Calm down"

"Don't you fucking dare tell me to calm down! You can't just say something like that and tell me to calm down."

"LaRusso found him and reported him to the police to get an easier punishment."

"So he's in jail?!"

".....yes"

"Oh my god"

"Look, are you gonna come or not?"

"Of course, what time?"

"3pm, I need to make a quick stop somewhere tomorrow"

"And where is that?"

He didn't respond. I took notice to the box of junk sitting on the table.

"Dad?"

"I'm just trying to help pay for Miguel's surgery"

"With that shit?"

"Hey enough, they didn't even take it."

"Then where are you going tomorrow-"

Thats when it hit me. Sydney.

"Please tell me your not going-"

"Sorry kiddo, he's our last option"

"But you might not even have to do it. The kids from Miyagi-Do are doing a car wash today to raise money."

"It still won't be enough. Besides, I need to contribute something"

He really wanted Miguel's family to forgive him. They had been so kind to us after all.
