Chapter Forty Five

When school ended, Miguel and I made our way to the address my dad sent us. It wasn't much of a classroom. Actually, it wasn't a classroom at all, it was a park. I guess there weren't many options that we could afford. At least he was trying.

When more people started to arrive, my dad prepared to speak. It was mostly the rejects from Cobra Kai.

"This is day one. We've been here before. But things are different now. They tried to tear us down. It didn't work! They say we needed a roof and four walls. Screw that! This park will be our new dojo. 'Cause you don't need a dojo to be a dojo! Is that understood?!"

"Yes, Sensei!" All seven of us said.

"I started Cobra Kai with one nerd. This is a step up. And if we're gonna be taken seriously, we need a name that commands respect. A name that elicits power and dominance. Cobras are strong. They may be the king of the jungle, but the worlds more than just a jungle. And there's only one animal that can kill a snake."

"A mongoose?" Bert asked.

"A real animal" my dad said as he reached into a box and pulled out a bunch of tee shirts. "Welcome to Eagle Fang Karate" he said as he showed off the shirt.

"You've got to be shitting me" I sighed.

"What- I you're supposed to be on my side!?" My dad complained.

"In this case, no"

He threw the shirt at me to shut me up.

"Uh, eagles don't have fangs-" Mitch began to say before my dad threw another shirt at him. He then passed the rest out to the rest of the group and we all complied to put them on.

I had an oversized hoodie on and there was no way for me to put this shirt on over top of it. I looked around to make sure the coast was clear and started to lift up my shirt.

"Hey, hey, hey, hey! Not you missy. I'm not having you undress yourself in front of all these horny ass boys" he said as he snatched the shirt back. I didn't care, at least I didn't have to wear that sad excuse for a logo.

As Miguel took his shirt off to put his new shirt on, I got a glimpse of him. I had forgotten how ripped he was. Fuck.

"All right everyone, fall in!" My dad ordered.

I was still in awe of Miguel and didn't even listen to him.

"Miss. Lawrence?" My dad asked.

I quickly snapped back to reality and lined up with the rest of the group. Miguel gave me a little smirk which made my cheeks heat up. My dad rolled his eyes before moving me to the opposite end of the group, away from Miguel.

"That's better" he smiled.

Before he could instruct us, I saw Hawk and his friends walking towards us. We're they really going to join us? My heart rate increased with every step Hawk took. I was scared of him now.

"Sensei look" Miguel said.

As my dad turned around to face them, I quickly made my way back over to Miguel and took a hold of his hand in fear. Thankfully he provided a lot of comfort to me.

"It's ok" he whispered in my ear.

"Alright, everybody. Looks like our class just got bigger. Make room." My dad said to us. I then saw Tory and Tyler come around the corner as well. I almost wanted to cry. My mind was then flooded with the memories of our fight and how she wanted to kill me. She hated me and probably wanted me dead. She blames me for her breakup with Miguel because he fell for me instead of her. To think I was once her friend.

I could see the hatred growing in Miguel's eyes as well. Suddenly, Kreese and the rest of Cobra Kai made their way over to us.

They weren't here to join the class after all.

"I told you. Cobra Kai for life" Hawk said.

Kreese stepped towards my dad. "Don't worry Johnny. I'm not here for a fight."

"Yeah? Then why the hell are you here?"

"I'd like to make you another offer to come back to Cobra Kai. You and your daughter. It's where you two belong."

"You're crazy if you think I'm ever teaming up with you again, let alone letting my daughter near you. Not after what your students did to her. With the garbage you feeding them and the shit they're pulling, it's messed up. And you're to blame for that."

"I have to disagree with you there. I care about my students. They're strong and they're true fighters. And they wouldn't make the mistake of showing mercy and ending up in a coma!" Miguel grew angrier and angrier by the minute. "This is it Johnny. There's not gonna be another chance"

"Good"

Kreese pushed past him and made his way to me. Miguel stood in front of me to protect me. Kreese laughed at his little move.

"Back off" Miguel said.

"Miss. Lawrence, what about you? This is your last chance as well" Kreese said.

"You really think I'm gonna come back after what they've done to me. They've hurt my friends over me and even tried to kill me."

"I want you to know, that everything they've done has been done with good reason. I should know"

"You're sick"

"And you're crazy if you think you'll succeed in this shit hole" he told me.

I didn't have anything else to say. I wanted to cry. Hawks eyes trailed over me and I wanted to pass out.

"I think you'd better leave" my dad told Kreese.

"You've made your choice. You're gonna regret it" Kreese said as he left with Cobra Kai.
