Chapter Twenty

The week went by pretty quickly. It was tough to get over being let go from the studio, but I trained hard for the tournament to forget about it. I used all of my anger to enhance my fighting.

Miguel and I have been spending more time together and I was really falling for him. He made me feel safe and loved. Similar to the way Eli made me feel, but Miguel was true to himself. Hawk kept his distance from us, but would glance at me every so often during training.

Today was the tournament. I hadn't competed in years and my anxiety continued to grow as we arrived. Miguel continued to tell me to relax, it didn't really help though.

"Welcome to the All Valley Tournament!" The announcer yelled.

We all quickly took our spots and began to prepare to fight. Miguel was up first.

"Good luck" I smiled before placing a kiss on his cheek.

"You too"

He took his place on the mat and the referee soon yelled to fight. So far he was doing a great job. My eyes wandered around the room to see how the rest of the team was doing. Hawk was beating the living shit out of some kid and Robby was doing surprisingly well.

"Blair, you're up" my dad said as he showed me to a mat.

The boy I was facing looked around my age and didn't seem like much of a challenge. He turned out not to be. His skills were executed poorly and and his technique was sloppy. If this is what everyone was going to be like, this wouldn't be much of a challenge.

"There you go Blair, great job kid!" My dad yelled as I finished off my opponent.

Soon enough it was time for the semi finals.

Hawk vs. Diaz

Lawrence vs. Keene

This was my worst nightmare. I hated that I had to go up against my own brother. He probably had no problem with it, but I had a million. I paced back and forth with every passing second.

"Blair, relax" my dad said as he placed his hands on my shoulders.

"I can't do this dad"

"Yes you can, and you will"

I looked back over to see Mr. LaRusso giving Robby a pep talk. Sam waved to me and I gave her a smile back, making me a feel a little better.

"Are you ready?" My dad asked.

"No"

"Good enough" he said before pushing me out to the mat.

I met Robby in the center of the mat.

"Are you sure you wanna do this, little sis?" He asked with a laugh.

"Of course" I smirked.

We positioned ourselves before the referee yelled 'fight'.

His balance was off majorly. The point easily became mine once I pinned him to the ground.

"Point Lawrence!" They yelled.

"You got lucky" Robby snickered.

"Yeah whatever" I said as I started to walk back to my spot.

Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my shoulder. Robby has severely kicked me, causing me to fall to the ground in pain.

"Blair!" My dad yelled as he rushed over to me, along with Hawk and Miguel

"Blair, are you ok?" Hawk asked.

I began to scream in agony as I attempted to get up. The pain was unbearable. I couldn't believe Robby would do this to me. I understood he hated me, but I never thought he would actually hurt me.

"I think my shoulders broken" I admitted.

"Hang on, I'll take you to the medic room" Hawk said as he started to pick me up. He tried to be as careful as possible without hurting me, but it was no use. I continued to cry in pain as he lifted me up.

"Hawk you need to fight" Miguel added.

"Miguel, she's hurt, I'm not leaving her alone!"

"So you're just gonna forfeit?"

"Yes, and if you really cared for her, you would too"

Hawk walked me back to the medic room along with my dad.

"Why did you do it?"

"Do what?"

"Forfeit"

"You were always there for me, I needed to be here for you" he admitted.

"Enough of your little romance bullshit" my dad said as he broke us apart. He lifted up my arm to see what type of condition I was in. "Does this hurt?"

I winced in pain, "yes"

Suddenly, I heard someone else enter the room. It was Mr. LaRusso and Sam.

Sam carefully wrapped her arms around me.

"I'm so glad you're ok" she smiled.

"Yeah, no thanks to you" my dad said to Mr. LaRusso.

"Johnny, I'm so sorry. I never knew anything like this would happen"

"What exactly have you been teaching my son?"

"Nothing like that"

"Dad, it's fine. I'm gonna fight" I said as I started to get up

"Like hell you are"

"Will you just trust me, I know what I'm doing"

"I won't just stand by and watch you get hurt again" Hawk said.

"I won't" I reassured him.
