We were all taken to the hospital to check up on our injuries, especially Miguel.
I sat in my hospital room alone for a while. The doctors said I had some minor broken bones, but nothing too severe.
Soon my dad came into the room.
"Dad" I cried.
He soon wrapped his arms around me, making sure to be careful.
"Are you ok?" He asked. "Fuck, that's a stupid question"
"Is Miguel ok?"
He didn't answer at first.
"He'll pull through, he always does"
I began to choke on my tears.
"This is all my fault"
"What? No! No! No, don't say that, Blair"
As my crying became heavier, my dads phone went off. It said '1 Unplayed Message from: Miguel Diaz'.
"Play it" I said.
"Blair-"
"Please, I just wanna hear his voice" I begged.
He complied and played the message.
"Hey, Sensei, it's Miguel. I knocked on your door this morning, but I guess you already left. I'm having some girl trouble and, well, you're better at this sort of thing than me. I'll come by the dojo after school. My moms working tonight, so maybe we could grab a burger at that place you like and this time we could uh- bring Blair? All right, talk to you later" Miguel said.
My dad ended the message as he started to sob.
-
When we both cooled down, he decided to grab me some water from the cafeteria. I was alone for a little bit until Mr. LaRusso stopped by.
"Hey" he said as he entered the room.
"Hi" I tried to smile. "How's Sam?"
"She's doing better. Got a few stitches, but not as bad as you by the looks of it" he tried to laugh. "How are you doing?"
"What am I supposed to say? Good? I practically just killed my best friend."
"Don't say that, this is not your fault" he said as he held my hand.
"But it is. If I had just know what was going on, I could have talked to him"
"That was out of your control"
-
I was able to leave the hospital a little later. They told me to just take it easy and gave me a few ace bandages for my arms.
I took a small nap in my room to try and relax my mind. I didn't know that Miguel still had feelings for me and the fact that I was so blind to these signs made me feel even worse. I hadn't seen Robby since the fight and I was beginning to worry about him. Eventually my dad knocked on my door.
"Hey kid, I left a few things at the dojo. Wanna go for a drive?"
Going to the dojo didn't sound like a good idea, but I need a distraction.
We drove to the dojo to find that the door was already open. We were both concerned because it was almost 11pm. Did someone break in?
We walked back to the sparring room to find Kreese training the students. What was going on?
He soon took notice to us.
"Class! We have visitors"
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" My dad asked.
"What does it look like? I'm teaching my students"
I looked around the room and made eye contact with both Hawk and Tori. She looked more pissed then ever.
"You're students?"
"You let them down when they needed you the most. Somebody needed to remind them what it takes to win."
My dad started to step closer to Kreese, but was soon blocked by the rest of the students.
He scoffed, "After everything I did for you?"
"Miguel is in the hospital because of you" Hawk said. "He showed mercy to you're son because of you. If he dies, that's on you"
And just like that, Eli was gone again. Once again, it was just Hawk.
"I did warn you about this. I told you not to show weakness" Kreese added.
"Get out"
"This my dojo. Oh, I forgot to tell you. When you were out of town, I had a little talk with the landlord. Turns out he doesn't like you very much. But you know the problem with those handshake deals. There are no guarantees."
"You can't do this"
"Of course I can" Kreese said as he walked over to my dad. "I founded Cobra Kai. It belongs to me. It always has and it always will. I will never let my students lose. Even if they have to learn the hard way."
I could tell my dads pain was growing.
"One day you'll thank me for this, Johnny"
"This was a mistake" my dad said as he looked around the room. "You want Cobra Kai? It's yours."
My dad started to leave and I followed him.
"Where do you think you're going, Miss Lawrence?" Kreese asked.
"What?"
"Aren't you going to join the rest of your classmates?"
Fuck. Was he really going to do this to me now. Even after everything that had happened, he still wants me on his side?
I looked back at Hawk.
"It's not too late to change your mind" he said as he tucked a piece of hair behind my ear.
I wanted to be with Eli more than anything, but I was not about to chose the wrong side for him.
"And it's not too late to change yours" I said.
His expression changed and he returned to the group.
"Fuck you" I said to Kreese before leaving with my dad. I took one last look at my friends who had been turned into monsters, thanks to Kreese.
I couldn't believe it. Something that my dad and I built up, was snatched right out of our hands. My brother was missing, my best friend was in the hospital fighting for his life, and my other friends were brainwashed. The worst part of it all was that the majority of those problems all lead back to me.
