A soft knock on the door of her room woke Annabeth from her dream less sleep. The blonde rubbed her eyes and sagged toward the wooden door, expecting to see Piper.

Instead, Annabeth was greeted by the most gorgeous boy in existence. His messy hair was swept to one side by the breeze and his mischievous grin stood plastered to his face. His encapsulating green eyes seemed to churn like the sea. Annabeth was no stranger to those eyes, they truly captured the beauty of the sea.

She knew the soft look those eyes held when they looked at her, how they melted when they made contact with the storm behind her own lids. That was the peaceful part of it, like the sea, those eyes would darken. Darken when someone threatened his friends, darken when someone would try to hurt those he cared about. As they say, eyes are windows to the soul. Annabeth never believed that, it just wasn't logical. But logic seemed to exit her brain whenever she stared into his eyes, she felt like she could've looked at them intently forever if Percy hadn't blushed and cleared his throat.

"Right, you're awake. Reyna wants to see her first mate." He said, rubbing the back of his neck. Annabeth had noticed long ago that it was an unconscious habit Percy had slipped into. At first, she'd thought he did it because he was uncomfortable but turns out, her observation was incorrect. He did it when he was nervous, which, was mostly around Annabeth.

It had been six months since they'd been living together on the ship and Percy only avoided discussing their obviously mutual feelings for each other. At this point Annabeth didn't know what her and Percy even were. Only last week when she had been on a raid with Jason, she'd gotten injured. Percy had lost his marbles, he straight up killed the mugger who stabbed Annabeth without a single trace of remorse. A few months ago he burned down an entire ship because a pirate tried to kill her.

And Annabeth could never forget their first kiss back in Percy's old room. She was visiting him in Atlantis last year when a gang of Pirates raided the castle. Annabeth was terrified to death, thinking they might kill her, or worse, they might kill Percy. Even the thought of losing him made her knees buckle, Percy meant everything to her. And there, in Percy's room, the threat of death looming over their heads like a dark stormy sky. Annabeth finally decided to tell him how she felt, what happened next took her by surprise.

When she kissed him, Annabeth was expecting Percy to pull away. Knowing full well she was compromising their friendship, she took the risk. The moment when Percy kissed her back was the exact definition of high risk, high reward. Unfortunately, the two hadn't talked about the incident since.

"Okay, tell her I'll be right there." Annabeth said, Percy opened his mouth to say something but closed it abruptly. He only nodded and left to get to the deck.

Her mind still on what Percy was about to say, Annabeth clambered up the stairs to the main deck of the ship. She was expecting to see everyone but only Jason and Reyna were present.

"Yes Cap?" Annabeth asked, bumping Reyna with her shoulder as the aforementioned girl let out a dry laugh.

"We saw a ship earlier, over there." She pointed toward the south. Annabeth looked around the Argo II only to see the sails flipped away from Themiscirya.

"What in the-" Annabeth began, only to be cut off by Reyna.

"The warship was heading there, I had Leo turn around." The captain earned a nod from her first mate.

"And you woke me up because?" Annabeth asked, still wondering why Reyna had summoned her at this ungodly hour.

"It's your watch, Chase." Jason said, rubbing his eyes.

"Oh. Right, well you two get some sleep. I've got things covered." Annabeth said, giving her friends a warm smile. She mentally slapped herself for not remembering that it was indeed her turn to keep watch.
