I watched on, the man snatched the chair from the other’s hand, who speedily ducked as a swing was taken at them. Before too long, the person who was trying to save me, was losing the fight. They emitted a painful shriek as the chair came into contact with their stomach, hard.

I decided it was my turn to help them, so I plucked up enough courage, took a deep breath, and ran at the attacker’s turned back. Not having a clue as to what I was doing certainly made things difficult. I jumped up on his back, hoping he’d fall over.

He didn’t.

So I tried a new tactic, I wrapped my arms tightly around his throat, while the other person kicked him right in the acorns. He dropped to the ground with a high pitched scream of agony, taking me with him.

I quickly scrambled up to my feet, and looked over at the other guy, not knowing what I should do now.

“Let’s get the hell out of here.” He huffed, clutching his stomach from where he was hit. It’s him again.

He grabbed my hand, and we both ran out back onto the pavement. In the street lights. Finally

“Are you okay?” He asked, biting his lip, looking straight at me. Oh my god.

I bit my lip too, trying to hold back a small smile. “Don’t be ridiculous, I’m fine.” I broke out into a full on grin, as I repeated his exact words that he said when I asked him if he was okay last week. I was just so happy to finally see him, my emotions just came pouring out. At least I thought that that's what it was.

He let out a chuckle, seeming a tad embarrassed as he looked down at the ground. "I'm sorry." He said, almost ashamed.

"What for?" I asked, confused.

He looked up at me and sighed, "everything."

I frowned, "stop being silly, we're even."

"What?"

"What?" I deflected. "I saved you, you saved me. Even."

He shook his head, mumbling; "that's not what I meant. I mean, aren't you disappointed that it's me? Aren't you mad at me?" He continued, looking deflated.

What? I've literally liked you liked you for months, and you think that I'm disappointed that I finally got the opportunity to kiss you?! Which I think should happen again, by the way. Just putting that out there.

"Why would you think that? That's absurd, Lou."

"Lou?" He questioned with a sly smirk.

I blushed and looked away, trying to hide it, but failing miserably. "I don't know." I mumbled. The nickname just slipped, I barely even realised I’d said it.

"I like it," he whispered, nudging his shoulder against mine to get me to look at him again.

"Why are you whispering?" I whispered back, giggling like a drunken idiot. I'm not drunk though, so I guess I'm just an idiot.

"We should get out of here." He turns vaguely serious, pulling me along by the hand.

"Agreed." I muttered, letting him lead me back to the park.

Once we'd gotten back, I led him to my car.

"Need a ride?" I asked, unlocking the doors with the press of a button.

"No, I'll be right, thankyou. Are you sure you're okay?"

I was about to reply, but an idea crossed my mind, so I changed my answer. "I'll be okay if you come with me." I bit my lip, that sounded weirder than I'd have liked. My smooth-ness is just too much for me sometimes.
