Blades At Work

Chapter 7

I stayed at the campsite helping to sort out the cooking area for everyone while they trained, from afar you could see Bakugou's explosions and Todoroki's ice erupt over the trees.
"Rumours are spreading" Mandalay stood next to me putting plates down, I looked at her confused "what rumours?" This made her chuckle, still this all going over my head.
"You and eraser head, rumours are spreading that you two are a thing" my face flushed as I coughed trying to play it off "we're close but it's nothing exclusive, he's just been really nice to me since I started at UA, was his idea for me to come along to training" I smiled and walked to the logs and started putting some down under the grills.
"If he's being nice to you then there's definitely something going on, he's not really a people person" Mandalay chuckled and sat down as she finished up "How long has he been acting 'nice' to you?" I put the logs down and started thinking, he was nice to me off the bat really but after my first week and staying at Midnights things went uphill from there.
"After my first week really, been a lot of moments where we're inches away from each other and we both break the moment" I shrugged and sat down opposite her.
"But again, not exclusive or anything we're just close" She let out a chuckle and stood up ruffling my hair "sure sure, just don't get distracted from your work"

I chuckled as the students came back looking all beat, Aizawa following behind them looking proud. "You're gonna kill them one day with all this training" I chuckled and stood next to him as the students started on their food. "That's the best kind of training, makes their muscles get used to the beating then strengthens them" Aizawa uncrossed his arms and let them fall to his side, his hand grazing across mine, a slight blush spread across my cheeks as I looked at him, still looking forward his finger twitched and locked with mine. I looked up and saw Mandalay looking at us and watched her chuckle before walking away. "Switch! I need your help cutting up more carrots" Ragdoll waved her hands up and looked at me and Aizawa, I squeezed his hand slightly before letting go and walking over to Ragdoll "coming!" I smiled and made a blade come out the side of my finger as i cut up carrots and put them in a bowl for cooking.

Dinner finished and everyone cleaned up and scurried off to their assigned areas, I was working indoors with the students that failed their final exams. Me and Vlad were the only staff indoors while Aizawa and the Wild Wild Pussycats were outdoors training the rest.
Vlad was taking main control of the teaching as I was there just for additional help, there wasn't a lot of students here only Mina, Sero, Denki, Kirishima, Sato and Monama. I yawned and leaned back in my chair and looked out the window seeing blue flames and smoke erupt in the forest "what the? Vlad does any of your students control blue flames?" I stood up and saw Vlads head shake. What's going on?
Suddenly we could hear Mandalay voice, using her telepathy. "We're being attacked, some villains have appeared in the forest and set a wide range of it aflame. It's possible that there are more, everyone who can move get back to camp immediately! Even if you come across the enemy retreat and do not engage. We're being attacked by two villains" My eyes widened, the students are out there. "Vlad, stay with the students I'm going to help and try and get more students here" i couldn't help but worry for everyone and Aizawa, unknown to how many villains was out there.

I ran out of the classroom and outdoors seeing the smoke and flames rise high above the trees, "fuck.. this isn't good" I rubbed my temple and heard a low voice beside me "is your worry taking precedence, Switch?" I looked to the side of me and saw a tall scarred up man holding his palm out, eyes widening I dodged the blast and jumped up to the overhang of the building. So this is the one who set fire to the forest, the blue flames match exactly to the forest fire.
He went to try again with the flames before I shot some blades at him pinning his coat to the ground, I jumped down and made a blade come out of my forearm. "What is your purpose? How many are you!" I held the blade against his neck, ready to interrogate the bastard. "Miss!!" I looked up and saw Iida, Ojiro, Mineta and Koda running up in a hurry. Once I was distracted the villain jumped up and went to run, I growled and went to shoot more blades at him only to see him melt into sludge. Was the flames not his quirk?? "Are the students important to you switch, hope you can save them all" the man smirked before fully melting away. Save them?? I drew my attention back to the students, "come on get inside" I brought them inside before running back out towards the forest.

Aizawa POV.

I rounded up some students and directed them to run back to the campsite with Vlad and Switch. "Get back to the campsite everyone! Do not engage!" I yelled as I wrapped a villain in the bandages and knocked them out, running further into the forest I felt a blade run across my rib, I turned around and saw a lizard person run towards me with a big katana in hand about to swing for me again. I growled and jumped out of the way onto a tree and wrapped more bandages around the villain stringing him up in the air attached to the tree to jump down and kick him in the head and chucking the katana out of the way. "What is your purpose here." I growled and looked at the strung up lizard. "You are not worthy, we will avenge and win the war." He growled, I rolled my eyes and kicked the villain in the head "not what I asked. What is your purpose." I grabbed the hair of the villain and made it look at me, staying silent the villain looked away. "Don't wanna talk? Fine by me" kicking the villain in the head and knocking them out, I ran further in and heard a female scream "Aino.." my eyes widened and ran towards the scream ignoring my side bleeding.

Aino's POV

I heard the scream as my eyes widened recognising it "Jirou!" I jumped up off of a villain and ran towards the sound as it was close, turning a corner I saw a villain holding Jirou by the neck, I snuck up behind the villain and went to surprise attack it only to be met with spikes coming from the back of the villain puncturing my arm and leg "fuck!" I grunted and used my hand making a blade come out of my palm and sliced the back of the villains neck making them drop Jirou, "Jirou run! Go!" I pulled one of the spikes out of my arm and saw her freeze "I said go!" I yelled and watched her run away, the villains attention now being fully on me, seeing from how the villain reacted to my attack we've got similar quirks.

"So you gonna tell me what your end goal is, what do you want" I stood now making blades come out of both my forearms and shins, the villain had no response, I leaned towards the villain shooting blades at each of its limbs pinning it to the tree, only to have it pounce back and fire more spikes towards me, two landing on my leg. Grunting in pain I pulled out the spikes and looked at the villain knowing there's no way of getting an answer out of them, I sliced the villains stomach and kicked it in the face. Feeling my left arm going numb from the loss of blood, I put most of my concentration into my legs.

Thinking I had the upper hand now having the villain more wounded than me, I lowered my guard a bit as I continuously kicked the shit out of the villain making blades show up more in my legs and right arm. The villain finally came to its wounds and blacked out, I panted realising it was over and ripped some of its shirt tying it up the top of my arm to pause the blood loss.
"Aino!!" I heard from further into the forest "Aino!" Recognising it being Aizawa, I'm so happy he's okay. "Aiza-" I went to yell but felt myself shrink and unable to speak. Did I just pass out ? I can still see why can't I move, why is everything bigger?
