Point of View: Kiyotaka Ishimaru

The ringing in my ear was the same as usual. Paving an echoing sense of urgency to arise from my slumber. Quickly, I chucked the covers off my bed and began speeding around, getting dressed into my smart uniform that I had ironed the night before and brushing my hair back from the tangled mess it had become: looking as smart as a dedicated student should. Rushing to brush my teeth, wash my face and clean my bedroom, I noticed it was 7:00 am, quickly running down the stairs case, grabbing the toast on the counter my father had made me before he left and began rushing to school.

Hi! I'm Kiyotaka Ishimaru. I'm the ultimate moral compass and I feel a strict code of morals I must face! Growing up, I admired those I saw on my tv, watching policemen arrest the bad guys, heroes stopping villains, leaders helping their citizens and many many other shows about those standing up and saving the weak and needy. I always wanted to become a hero to someone some day, looking up to those who put an effort to help others made me more motivated. Effort is something I believe everyone needs to rely more on, instead of their 'genius.' I hate the word 'genius' even as a kid. It makes many feel like they can slack off and trust their intellect instead of cracking down and putting some thought into what they do. It's probably why my grandfather had been booted from his job as president: never made a single lasting effort.

My grandfather fell from power due to his corruption and he made the family fall into debt because of it. Our family's name was tainted, and we were made a mockery. My father would take up different jobs to get income for the family, scraping by to feed us after a while, becoming a police officer much to the public's displeasure. My mother wrote books and gave them to the library for revenue, but they'd only give her ¥100 at best. At school, I was bullied often, kids often put sand in my sandwiches, put pins in my shoes, threw small rocks at me and one kid even punched me in the eye, all because of my grandfather. This gave me more incentive to change the Ishimaru name; made me want to bring us some honour back after my grandfather's corrupt ways. I wanted to make everyone believe I was a good person, unlike the man I was related to.

However not everything truly goes to plan.

I finally made it to school with an hour left to monitor around the school, picking up litter delinquent kids threw onto the floor, stopping people from being picked on which subsequently made me the target and making sure everyone was getting to class on time. It's all difficult work, but I feel my efforts will pay off. Until one student began causing a ruckus down the hallway

"Mondo! You've missed out on so much when you got suspended last year!" A tall, red-haired man yelled, shaking the massive man in front of him

"I getcha Leon. I missed a fuck ton. Quit tellin' me!" The taller man said, his burrowing, deep voice almost making me blush. But I didn't know why.

"You missed Ibuki's concert, Angie's sculpting competition, all the judo fights that Sakura, Peko, Akane and Tenko would set up, Sayaka and Kaede's recital for their debuts into the media and-" Leon, the loud mouthed man, was hurled into a locker by Mondo. Looking fiercely at him, pissed.

"I told ya' I getcha'! Quit the bullshit already!"

The scene made me freeze, what such violence was I witnessing! Leon, this already tall man who hardly anyone could reach, was barrelled down by this man who I didn't see! I knew it would be wrong if I said nothing so I sped walked over, yelling "Mondo! Leon! No violence in the school halls!"

Leon turned to me, a massive bruise on his face, smiling "don't worry bud! We're messing around!"

"Messing around?!" I voice cracked slightly as I said that "you're bleeding Leon!"

"This?" He pointed to the tooth he just lost "nah this is good! All fine!"

I stood in shock as I looked at them what were they on- I shook my head and gripped both by the wrist "the both of you are going to class right now! If I see you again, you're both getting detention!"

"You oughta be kidding me... I ain't some rule following nerd. Ya' got no place to tell me what to do." Mondo said, towering over me. Now don't get this twisted, I am 175cm/5'9 ft, I am certainly not a short male and it's surely nothing to sneeze at. This man must've been 185cm/6'1 ft. I slightly blushed at the closeness but stayed persistent "Now Owada!" Looking straight into his lilac eyes.

Mondo clenched his fist, looking like a mad bull but he groaned, unclenching his fist. "Fine. I'll go. But you don't ever think ya' got me to respect you!"
