I'll Protect You

My head hurt and it felt like I was hit on the head with something hard. It felt fuzzy. I felt a tight grip on my arms and something soft on my face. The soft-touch was warm and welcoming. The warmth left and I finally realized I was alive. I needed to breathe. I opened my eyes and saw Jotaro hovering over me and the sun was behind him. My lungs started working and I started taking in big gulps of air. I sat up and continued to take deep breaths and I looked around to see we were on a small boat floating in the water. 

   " Finally, you're awake. I was starting to think you were dead. "

I looked at Jotaro and he took a seat where the others were sitting. I sat down beside Kakyoin and he patted my back. I looked up at him and asked, 

   " What happened? "

   " Jotaro defeated Dark Blue Moon and pulled you to the surface. He said you couldn't hold your breath underwater and that you passed out. As soon as he brought you to the surface the ship exploded because there were bombs on it. We got on the lifeboats and now we're waiting for someone to help us. "

   " I was really out of my element. I need air in order to work my Hamon but I can't do much underwater. "

   " I could tell, you passed out quickly. And hey what was that trick you pulled while we were down there? " Jotaro asked.

   " Ah, I knew that you were being drained of your energy so I sent you some of mine to help. "

   " You didn't have to do that. "

   " But I did. I'm your protector so I have to make sure you at least make it out alive. "

Jotaro just lowered his hat and folded his arms. I looked towards Polnareff and he seemed giggly.

   " What are you so giggly about? "

   " Oh, nothing mon cher. Just how cute this photo looks. "

He showed me the photo and I felt my face redden. In the picture, it was Jotaro kissing me. It looked like it happened on this lifeboat. I was passed out with my eyes closed and Jotaro was kissing my lips.

   " When did this happen!? "

   " Only a few moments ago! Don't you two look so good together? " Joseph asked hitting my shoulder.

I was shocked and wanted to yell at someone. I turned towards Jotaro to see his eyes already on me. I pointed at him and held my hand over my mouth.

   " You took advantage of me while I was passed out! "

   " What? You are as dumb as a brick. I was saving your life. Be grateful bitch. "

   " What do you mean saving my life!? It doesn't look like it from this picture! "

   " It's called CPR! Now shut the hell up! "

I could feel the small girl grab my side and she hugged me. I hugged her back and pushed the picture away from me.

    " Thanks, but Polnareff please don't make me think of assumptions. "

   " Now the blame is on me? Should I kiss you to make you feel better? " He asked smirking at me.

   " We are not on this journey for this! "

   " Hey, you leave her alone! She just woke up from a small coma! Leave her alone or I'll cut you old man! " The little girl said to Polnareff.

   " Old man!? "

   " Yeah, old man! You have the white hair to prove it! "

   " You brat! " 

Polnareff tried to grab her but I held her closer to my side and put a hand on Polnareff's chest to stop him.

   " Hey, hey, hey! Calm down Pol. "

He backed off and I looked down at the little girl. She smiled at me and gave me a thumbs up. 

   " I like you! We gotta stick together while with these perverts. My name's Anne. "

   " Y/n. "

We floated on the waters for a bit longer and when the moon came out everyone leaned on each other to go to sleep. Kakyoin gave me his jacket to keep warm and he leaned his head on Anne who leaned on me. I looked up at the stars and decided to look at the constellations. I spotted the big and little dipper and the rest were hard to find among the many stars. The clear environment made it perfect to look at the sky and see the stars. 

   " Why are you not asleep? "

I looked back down at the boat. I looked in Jotaro's direction to see him awake. He still had his arms folded and he leaned against the edge of the boat. I shrugged my shoulders and he stood up from his spot. He pulled Polnareff's arm and set him down where he was just sitting. He sat beside me and I realized he did it so we could whisper and not wake up anyone. He folded his arms and looked down at me.

   " What did you mean earlier? "

   " When? "

   " When you said you were my protector. "

   " When I said you have to make it out alive? "

He nodded his head and his green eyes pierced my soul. I knew he wasn't intending to intimidate me and I wasn't. 

   " That's just my job. I'm the protector. It's my job to protect the Joestar clan even if it costs me my life. "

   " Your life doesn't matter? "

   " Nope. Actually, I could care less at this point. "

He only raised his eyebrow at me and I realized I would be doing most of the talking.

   " I've lived too long. I should have died a long time ago with Jonathan, Baron, and Speedwagon. Or at least in New York with Speedwagon and Erina. I'm the only one left of the originals and it hurts to know everyone but Dio is gone. If I die now I wouldn't mind. I just know that I'm supposed to protect your family no matter what. Even if it means death for me. "

   " Has anyone ever tried protecting you? "

   " Joseph did fifty years ago. But as you can see it wasn't successful. "

   " You leave every time someone presses that birthmark of yours? "

   " It has to be a Joestar to do it. The only people who could send me away are you, Joseph, Holly, and Dio. I'd prefer that I didn't go away this time. I would like to stay for once and live my life, but I don't think that will happen. Every time I am to help someone I always get sent away. It'll happen this time. "

   " Don't say that. Have hope in us to protect you. "

   " I didn't work last time. "

   " This time you've got me by your side. And I won't let that bastard have you or take you away from this time period. "

   " I appreciate the kind gesture Jotaro but I don't see it happening. It's always the same. I fight with Jonathan and I leave after I thought we defeated Dio. Then with Joseph, we were fighting in that volcano and our enemy chopped off his hand and he pulled a dirty trick while I was fighting him. Now, with Dio, he'll try to get me on his side and he'll be able to use his power of the Joestar blood against me and could possibly-"

A purple finger appeared and pressed on my lips. Star Platinum appeared in front of me and his finger was on my lips to stay quiet. 

   " You worry too much. I'll protect you so get some sleep before the sun comes up. "

I looked into Star Platinum's eyes and felt warmth spread through me from just starring at them. I nodded and Star's finger left my lips and he disappeared. Jotaro pulled me toward him and I leaned on him.

   " And call me JoJo. "

   " You really are a big softy. "

   " Shut up. "

He was warm so I leaned against him and fell asleep. I didn't enter Dio's dream world again and this time my dreams were happy.
