I leaned up from Kakyoin's bed and stretched my back.
' That nap was a good one. '
I looked at Kakyoin who was laying against the hospital bed, with wrappings around his eyes and his pajamas on. His pajamas resembled Joseph's in a way but the stripes were purple instead of baby blue.
" I can't tell if he's awake. " I whispered.
I put my arms together and laid my head on them, and laid against the bed. I looked at the wall, stuck in my thoughts about what happened in Egypt.
' Looks like Dio has given them permission to hurt me, but I'm betting he said that they couldn't kill me. That's why that stand separated me from the others. He knew where I was so he couldn't hurt me anymore than he already had. '
The bandages around my stomach and chest reminded me of how deep the cuts were and how I allowed myself to be hurt. I knew that I would do it all over again in a heartbeat, but I would be smarter about it.
" Now, Kakyoin's stuck here in this hospital because I couldn't heal him. I didn't want to accidentally damage the eye or have its DNA changed because Gold Spirit healed him. I've only healed wounds this far, never the blind. "
" Y/n you did what you could and what you thought was necessary. I'm here and I'm fine. "
I turned my head to look at Kakyoin to see him still laying against the mattress with his head resting on the pillow. The bed was slightly at an angle so he was in a sitting/laying position.
" I thought you were asleep. "
" You thought wrong, my sweet. I guess it's hard to tell without seeing my eyes or eyelids, huh? "
" You could say that. How ar you feeling? "
" I feel fine. If you hadn't healed me when you did I think I would have been blind. "
" I'm sorry I didn't heal you fully, I was afraid it wouldn't heal correctly, I've never had to heal someone who had their eyes damaged. "
" I understand, you've only healed wounds this far, so it's understandable why you didn't heal my eyes. Because if I did go blind how sure are we that it would work? "
" Yeah. "
" But thank you for protecting me and everyone else. You are a true protector by heart. "
" It's funny you tell me this now. After centuries of protecting the Joestar family and their friends. "
" Ironic isn't it? You must be super old. "
" Hey, watch it. I might be old but I know more than you. And I look flawless for my age. "
" How old are you? "
" Old. "
" But what's the number? "
" A number. "
" You're not going to tell me are you? "
" Nope, you do the math yourself. Figure out when Jonathan Joestar was a young lad and then subtract that year from this year and you get my age. "
" Then tell me, how are your injuries? "
" They're wrapped up. I'm going to let them heal naturally for a while before using Gold Spirit. You never know when we're going to run into the next stand user, so I would like to have my energy ready to heal someone. "
" That's very honorable of you. "
" Thanks, cherry boy. "
The door to the hospital room opened and the rest of the crusaders walked in, excluding Iggy, and came towards the bed.
