' You know, I'm starting to get tired of being kidnapped everytime before a fight. And I just got over a fever.'
I sat up from the soft sheets and rubbed my head. I looked around my surroundings and everything was dark. I couldn't see through the darkness. All I could comprehend was that I was sitting on something soft. I felt around the material underneath me and I felt multiple layers.
' I'm on a bed. '
I couldn't look through the darkness, but I could detect someone's breathing. They were in the room, not far from me.
" I know someone is in here. I can sense your lungs moving up and down as you breathe."
" Oh, clever you are. "
A small flame appeared and it moved upward. The person had lit a match and they threw it into an unlit fireplace. The wood caught fire quickly and it brightened up the room.
' It's. . .'
" Dio. . . "
Dio was sitting on a single chair with a book in his hand. His eyes were on me and his smile was small but present. Dio shut the book he was reading and set it on the chair as he stood up.
" Yes, my love. It is I, Dio. "
I was at a loss for words, and he took notice of this as he slowly walked closer.
" Cat got your tongue? "
Dio looked different. He had a red scar traveling across his neck where he attached his head to Jonathan's body, and he had the Joestar birthmark on his shoulder. He wore a tight shirt that connected around his neck, revealing his arms and shoulders, and he wore yellow pants with the same color shoes. Around his hips was a green belt that had a heart in the middle. His hair was a little longer, but still pure blonde. His eyes were the worst part, his eyes were gold and they showed no hatred, but love.
" You really are speechless to see me again, you haven't even uttered a word besides my name. "
" What do you expect me to say? Welcome back? "
" No, I predicted you would be speechless, but it's so interesting seeing you this way. This is a version of you I've never seen. "
Dio was standing beside the bed where I was sitting, and I didn't know what to say at all. The smile on Dio's lips widened a bit and he leaned forward, kissing my forehead before bringing me into a hug. He felt warm, and not anywhere close to cold.
" I've missed you. . .so much my love. "
" I'm guessing you got one of your minions to come get me? "
" Yes, that would be correct. Vanilla Ice is his name and he is loyal to me. "
" Is he a vampire? "
" He is now. When he retrieved you he was a human with a stand, but I turned him. His loyalty to me will forever be alive. "
" I'm also guessing you don't plan to stop hugging me. "
" You might be correct there. "
Dio pulled you off the bed and put his hands on your hips. He picked you up and spun you in the air. You held onto his arms so you wouldn't fall. When he set you down, he brought you back into a hug.
" I don't want to let go of you ever again. "
" You'll have to. "
" I know, but right now I don't have to. "
You pulled your head off of Dio's chest and looked at him with a glare. Dio didn't react but kept the same expression on his face. One that was calm and happy.
" You realize you've got your enemy in front of you and I could harm you? "
" Y/n, can we pretend that we are not enemies. Can we pretend for a moment that we do not belong to a side? I don't want to think about the Joestars or anyone else right now. I want to just focus on what's in front of me and that's you, my love."
" Dio-"
" Please. " He begged.
When you looked at his eyes you could see he had no bad intentions and that he really did just want to be happy. The look in his eyes brought you back to when you were kids. The look he would give you when he asked you to go somewhere with him when he wanted to just sit with you and read. The memories of your youth. When he defended you and claimed he would be there for you, even when no one else would stand with you, he would. The memories brought a tear to your eye and it slipped down your cheek. Dio lifted his hand and wiped the tear away with his thumb as he caressed your face with his hand.
" Oh, Dio. "
You, quickly, wrapped your arms around him and hugged him like you were never on the opposing side as if there was nothing holding you back. As if he wasn't evil.
" Y/n. "
Dio hugged you back and he hugged you tightly. He didn't want to let go of you, he didn't want to leave the moment you were having. He wanted to be with you in the late 1880s living your lives peacefully.
" I've missed you, my love. "
" We're the only ones left. "
" I know. "
" I don't even know what to say. There's too many things. "
" Then don't say anything. "
Dio connected his head with yours and held your waist. Your arms were wrapped around his own waist.
" Just stay here, with me. " He said in a soft voice.
You both continued to hug like that, with the fire crackling behind you. You both knew that one of you was going to die. It could be you or Dio, but destiny hadn't revealed that yet. So, before you both go into battle and face off against each other, you wanted to just have a moment. A moment away from destiny, from others, from the world. A moment that could belong to you two, before the other dies.
How cruel destiny is.
