Chapter 7.

At the end of Chapter 6:  Fabri did not like that answer at all and said, "How about a party at my hotel on Saturday night, with both of our businesses? All of the employees can come and we will celebrate our joint venture." Deren came in the door as Fabri asked about the party. She answered for Can and Sanem saying that the employees would love a party. Can had no option but to agree. Then Fabri added to Can, "I will invite your girlfriend Polen to come too." Can replied, "I think you have misunderstood something. Polen is not my girlfriend. We broke up many, many months ago. Please do not go out of your way to invite her unless it is for yourself." As Fabri left, he kissed Deren's hand and when he tried to kiss Sanem's hand again, he got another shock on his nose.

The next day, Sanem received a package at her home. Since she would have a birthday this week, she and Leyla were excited to see what it was. There was no name on the gift card. They opened the box and pulled out a gorgeous blue dress. According to Leyla, it was very expensive.

Leyla said, "I'll bet it's from Can for your birthday and for you to wear to the party."

Sanem replied, "I'm not so sure; it doesn't feel right. Can wouldn't send me a dress and I'm not even sure he knows it's my birthday." But Leyla was convinced and told her to surprise Can by wearing it to the party.

That Friday night, Sanem and Leyla arrived at the party together. Can was already there having a drink with Emre, Aziz, and Fabri. When Fabri hurried over to greet Sanem and tried to grab her in a hug, of course he got a shock. He was saying, "I knew you would like my gift. I'm so happy you wore it for me. We will celebrate alone after this party."

Sanem was really shocked. She turned toward Can and he had a furious look on his face. Then Fabri turned to Can and said, "Now Sanem can be my girl, on her birthday. Look how good she looks in my gift."

Can put his glass down very carefully and went toward the door and Sanem was walking right beside him. On the way to the door, they passed Polen and she tried to grab Can. But Polen snidely said to Sanem, "I knew you would like that dress. I helped Fabri pick it out for you."

Can kept walking and when he got close to the end of the walkway, Sanem caught up with him and grabbed his arm. "Can, stop. I need to talk to you."

He angrily replied, "Why did you tell me to never leave you alone with that man if you are going to wear his gift and be with him tonight? You made me promise, and now look at you. Going off with him, alone. What was that all about then if you're going to be his girl?"

Very calmly, Sanem replied. "Can, I need you to listen to me now. Will you please stop and listen for a minute?" But Can was angry and could not listen so he turned to leave. In really, he just plain having a good old-fashioned temper tantrum. Sanem thought. "This will never do!" So, she stomped her foot and Can froze in place. When he started talking again, she put her finger on her lips and he hushed. In fact, he could not even open his mouth to respond.

She walked in front of him and said, "Now you will listen. This is exactly what Fabri wants to happen. You yelling and leaving. He's trying to make you look bad and be mad at me. This dress came to my house without a name on the gift card. I was not sure about it but I let Leyla convince me it was from you for my birthday. I did not think he would know my address, so I wore it thinking it was from you. Now, this is what we're going to do. In the next minute, you will be able to talk to me... but you better listen too, and be nice to me. I am going into the hotel's boutique shop and you are going with me. I have my credit card with me and I am going to buy another dress. I will ask them to wrap up this dress I have on. I will wear the new dress we are will choose together, and then we will go back into the party. Okay?"
