Chapter 15.

At the end of Chapter 14:  Polen turned to Sanem and said, "You just wait. Your time is coming. You will leave Can and he will be mine." Before Can could react, Polen turned to leave and fell flat on the floor. "Look what Sanem did to me. She threw me on the floor." Sanem had actually not done anything this time. Polen just fell off her very high-heeled shoes. Aziz said, "She was nowhere near you. What is wrong with you? I thought you were a smart girl but you have no self-respect trying to make a man marry you. That is really pathetic. Can is right. The law will not let you go if you get involved with Hüma." Polen stomped out of the door saying, "I will be back, and I will win." Metin turned to the group and told them to be very careful. They should never go anywhere alone until those two had left Istanbul.

Can and Sanem left the Agency offices when the others did and went straight home. Baby had stayed home with the kittens that day. Can had put a gate on the laundry room door and the three of them were in there together. They had a litter box, large water bowls, and pee-pee pads in case Baby needed them. Sanem left little bowls of dry kitty and puppy food in case they got hungry or Can and Sanem were late coming home. They were all good to eat twice a day now. They still all slept a lot and had soft little towels and blankets on the floor to lay on, but most of the time, Baby liked to lay on the cool tile floor. Very rarely did Can and Sanem leave the animals at home, but Sanem had had the feeling that they needed to leave them at home that day.

When they got home and checked on their animal babies, Can had Sanem come over and sit down on the sofa with him. He started the conversation telling her what he had overheard Leyla and Emre talking about. Particularly what Leyla had said about the brothers and how they would probably cheat on their wives.

Can said, "I am very humble knowing that you defended me. Even after your sister warned you that I might cheat. I promise you that will never happen. I also promise you that I will not flirt with other women as I have in the past, and I apologize for the times I have done that in front of you. I felt so sad for Leyla hearing her say to Emre that she would love and stay with him no matter what he does. Emre actually cried when she said that to him and I hope this is a wake-up call for him to act better to his wife."

Sanem hugged him and replied, "I love and trust you completely but I will know if you are hiding something from me anyway." They were both laughing then as Can tried to tickle her. They heard a low growl and looked down to see Baby and both of the kittens sitting and watching them.

Can said, "Okay, Baby, I will behave for now. Let's go fix your dinner. Sanem, we do need to be careful. We don't know what Hüma might plan next. I'm not sure what her problem is. You would think a mother would want her sons to be happy."

Sanem replied, "I should be able to take care of myself as long as I am conscious."

The next few days at the Agency were quiet. Melis had been arrested and charged with a misdemeanor for prostitution. She was not caught in the act of solicitation but had confessed to it. She received a fine but no other charges filed against her since she had not done any harm at the Agency.

Hüma was also charged with a misdemeanor for planning to commit harm. She was also charged with fraud but received only a fine with no jail time.

The next few weeks were calm without any drama at the Agency. Can and Sanem were loving their life with their animal babies and talking about adopting more animals when the kittens were a little older. Of course, Baby ruled the household. He and Can were great friends now but Baby would still growl softly when Can hugged Sanem.
