Ella was so surprised that she barely dodged. She scanned the room for John. John was nowhere in sight, but Ella decided she couldn't let her guard down. John could be there, hiding in the shadows. And we all know what would happen if John was there and Ella activated her ability.
Ella did the same trick as she did so with John. She faked a strike to his head, which he blocked using defense form, but Ella punched at his gut, which she hit. He got the wind knocked out of him. She stood over him. "What was that for?"
Zeke said, "Because I heard you-"
He was cut off by an announcement. A voice spoke in the speakers: "Will John, Remi, Blyke, Isen, Ella and Ethma please report to the headmaster's office? Thank you."
Ella told Zeke, "Never mind. See you around." She turned away and started down the hall.
Remi guided her through the hallways. Ella may have known all the classrooms, but she certainly didn't know where the headmaster's office was.
She arrived to see that John was already there. He scowled at her, but didn't attack her(probably because he was in the supervision of the headmaster). How did he get the chocolate cake off his face so fast? Ella thought.
"Headmaster Vaughn," all the students said(Ella said it a bit later than others).
"Hello, Wellston students." His expression seemed calm. "Should I spill the beans?"
The kids looked at each other.
"Sure," they said in unison.
"We have been challenged to a Substantial Turf War. Meaning, the top 6 students from every school will have to compete. The rules are: the same student of the same rank from each school will fight against each other. For example, the King of one school will fight the King of the other; the Queen of one school will fight against the other. Makes sense?"
"Yes Headmaster."
Ella asked, "Which school did we get challenged by?"
"Hmmm, let's see.... ah, here it is," he said, plucking out a folder out of a drawer filled with papers. He fumbled through them. He found a specific sheet. He adjusted his glasses and said, "Vallord High School."
Ella's eyes widened with surprise. "Vallord!?"
The headmaster nodded. "Yes. I believe it's home to many elite-tiers. There are some high-tiers, and mid-tiers live there, too."
"B-but, that's where I transferred from," Ella stuttered. Damn it, stop shaking! she told herself.
The headmaster raised his eyebrows. "Is that so?"
"Yes."
"Then I believe you'll be seeing some familiar people there." He adjusted his glasses again.
Ella bit her lip. She couldn't believe she was competing against her old school. She had just transferred here, what, like three days ago? If Vallord really had challenged Wellston... she hoped her old friends wouldn't be mad at her.
"I suggest you train. Vallord isn't exactly a easy school to compete against. In fact, it is the third highest ranking school in the region, after Agwin High School. Although they haven't yet competed against Agwin."
"So... they're probably heading straight for the top spot." It was the first time John spoke since they arrived.
"Precisely."
Suddenly the whole room tensed. Ella wasn't sure why, though.
Ethma made a sound at the back of her throat like, "Unnnnghhh,"
The headmaster continued, "Vallord may or may not be the second highest rank in the region, and as we have never fought them, we do not know their strength." He scanned everyone in the room.
"So... we just fight, fight, fight?" Ella offered.
"Yes," the headmaster replied. "Remember, try your best when the fight comes. I believe they have some very special abilities."
Ella remembered her best friend, who had a Shapeshifting ability. Meaning, she could transform into anything, as long as it existed in the current world. So it couldn't be something from 2050. Her level was close to Ella's, so Ella figured she would be competing in the Turf Wars, too.
As the headmaster dismissed them, Ella walked absent-mindedly down the hallway. She pondered what it would be like to compete against her friends from a rival school. She hoped her old friends wouldn' t be mad at her.
Ella thought all about that. Why had Vallord challenged them? Ella had told her old friends that she would be moving to Wellston. Had they challenged Wellston because of her?
Her thoughts were interrupted as she suddenly bumped into someone. She looked. It was John. Geez, so annoying! she thought. "Sorry."
She continued heading down the hallway.
At that moment, John asked, "Where do you think you're going?"
Ella replied, "Back to lunch, of course, as a certain person made me run out of the cafeteria."
She barely had time to dodge as John's fist went flying into her face. Really? He really want sto start a fight with me at this time and place? Does he want to blow up the whole entire school or something?
A/N: This chapter was really boring to me as I wrote, but it leads to one of the major ships that'll come true at the end of the story.
Don't worry about another boring chapter, though. I'll make the next chapter more fun and relaxing. Also, there's this bonus chapter that I wrote if you haven't already seen it...
All the same, thanks for reading!
