Beep, beep, beep. Ella woke to the sounds of the alarm that always woke her up. Ella also always overslept a bit, and she was about to do just that when she remembered that today was her first day at Wellston Private High School, and she didn't want to be late! Her brown hair was a mess, and she was still in pajamas. Not exactly a good fit for a first day.

She combed her hair as neat as she could, but it just spilled everywhere no matter what she did to it. She put a headband on, hoping it would hold down her hair. She looked at the school uniform the headmaster had set out for her.

Dang, do I really have to wear a vest? That thing looks really, really itchy. But she didn't want to look like a dope not wearing it, so she put it on anyways. Immediately, it started itching the back of her neck. Oh, let's all watch Ella trying to survive with this stupid darn vest on, she thought irritably. She looked at the rest of the uniform. A bow tie, really long stockings, and a skirt. She put the skirt on, the top at around her hips, and then the stockings on. Welp, at least the skirt covers part of the stockings, no embarrasing parts shown! She put on the bow tie, and looked at herself in the mirror.

The way she looked wouldn't have hit her Top 10 Favorite Clothing To Wear list. Just then, Ethma popped in.

"Wow, you look good," she said. "Whose class do you have for homeroom? Oh, and you're not supposed to wear your skirt that low. You're supposed to hitch it up a bit."

"Umm..." Ella checked her schedule. "I have Mrs. Rosalind for homeroom. And anyways, what's wrong with my skirt? Besides, it would be really embarrasing that way..."

"Well, everyone wears their skirt like that. But wait, did you say you got Mrs. Rosalind? Lucky you! She's, like, the nicest person in the world! I heard she always lets her students play for the last ten minutes if you behave well. Like, literally, do whatever you want! And it's not exactly hard to get on her good side. You just have to answer a question, and, presto! You've just earned your class a free ten minutes."

"Nice!" Ella said. "But I don't really know my way around here, so... can you lead me there?"

"Sure!" Ethma said cheerfully.

Ella and Ethma went down the hallways. God, these hallways are long, Ella thought.

"Hey... why aren't you wearing your vest?" Ella noticed.

"Didn't you know you don't have to wear your vest?" Ethma said.

Ella glared at her. "Why didn't you tell me earlier?" She started scratching at the back of her neck. Better not to think about it.

Ethma shrugged. "I forgot you were new and you didn't know about that."

Ella cursed.

They had almost reached the end of the hallway when a boy came in. He had messy black hair and menacing golden eyes, with a long, blue-haired sidekick beside him. Suddenly, the whole entire hallway became quiet, and the chattering stopped. Everyone looked down, and the frowny faced black-haired boy strode down the hallway. Ella didn't think much of them.

Ethma pulled Ella aside as they passed them. The black-haired boy glared at Ella, like she wasn't supposed to be there. Ella glared back at him. Ethma hissed, "Don't look at him like that-"

The blue-haired boy grabbed the collar of Ella's shirt. "What are you looking at?"

Ella said, "Well, what are you looking at?" Asshole, she added in her mind.

The blue-haired boy tried to punch her, but she wriggled free of him. She dodged, and then punched him in the face.

"Oww... You little piece of sh*t!" The blue-haired boy yelled as his eyes glowed, as he kicked at her really fast. Ella wasn't sure she could dodge it, but she did.

"I really don't want to do this, but..." Her eyes glowed a shade of light turquoise, and she sent him up in green-blue flames. He flinched. Actually, maybe flinch was a bit of an understatement.

"OW! OWWWWWWW!" he yelled. "YOU'RE GOING TO F*CKING KILL SOMEONE!"

"Pfffff- My fire doesn't kill unless I make them do it. And I don't think you're worth killing." She diminished the flames. "Just don't bother us again, and don't bully other people. " With that, she turned around, and deactivated her ability.

At that moment, the black haired boy said, "Where the f*ck do you think you're going?"

Ella turned around to face him, and was hit with surprise. He looked strangely familiar, but she couldn't think who.

"I'm going to class, dumbass," she casually replied. He might've been a friend in the past, but that didn't matter now. She felt like he was a jerk to be bullying other people.

Suddenly he seemed to remember her too, but he couldn't recount.

"Don't. Speak to me that way," he growled, getting over his moment of shock. Then his palm erupted into black flames and fired them at Ella.

Ella was taken back by surprise. He has the same ability as me? Thats... not possible! Her own eyes glowed, and light turquoise fire formed a shield around her. The black fire was almost able to break through, but Ella put her energy into it, and was able to block out the black fire. But the black-haired boy didn't seem affected.

At that moment, the everyone in the hallway started whispering.

"Oh my gosh, the new kid is battling John!"

"What do you think will happen if she defeats him?"

"I don't think so, though. He's an 8.2 now!"

"But imagine if she did..."

Damn, he's strong Ella thought. Just then, a memory came tumbling back. A little boy... just like him... It was all fuzzy. Ella considered that it was probably from Vallord, her old home. But she hadn't lived there for her whole life. She had been born in New Bostin, and moved to Vallord when she was about six years old.

But there was no time to dwell on that now. A menacing god-tier was about to deal the final blow. Ella thought, Guess I have to go full force. Putting all her energy in, she made herself to shoot the hottest flames she ever tried to do. But the black-haired boy whose name was supposedly John just put up his hand, and a shield of black flames circled around him. Ella's turquoise fire extinguished against that shield.

Okay, he's really strong, Ella thought. But I have to stall him while I come up with a plan.

"So you think you're tough sh*t, huh?" asked Ella. "Well, maybe try to f*ck off and leave me alone!"

"What did you just say to me?"

You're probably wondering why Ella's fire doesn't take after her hair color. Ella is a special case in which the fire's color goes after her eyes. Hope this explanation made it clearer.

Hi guys, I changed the name cuz the old one didn't seem very fitting, didn't it? Hope you like the new name.
