“Hi, Cristian.”

“Hi, Kyle.”

“I hope I’m not interrupting.”

“Nope, I’m just working.”

“Happy birthday! How was it?”

“Thanks and thanks for the card. I really like the bears on it.”

“You’re welcome.”

“You know you didn’t have to take the time to actually make the birthday card. An e-card would have been fine.”

“I know, but I like doing it. Besides, I like it. Remember, I do draw.”

“Yes, I know. Thank you again and for the gift card.”

“No problem.”

“So what did you all do for your birthday?”

“The twins woke us up. They each gave me a birthday card and they made breakfast.”

“Cute. What did they make?”

“Cereal, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and fruit. Then, we had to build a snowman as tall as me.”

“Of course, it’s always fun playing in the snow.”

“Yes and it’s always a struggle to get Rocky in his sweater.”

“I can imagine.”

“You should get a puppy.”

“No, I don’t think so.” Ky responds.

“But he would be a good companion.”

“Yes, but I don’t have time to train him.”

“You did a good job with Rocky.”

“You were there to help.”

“Nope, I was working too.”

“Maybe. What other gifts did you get?”

“Hmm, cake with a family photo on it. I got a lottery ticket from Xavier. It has three scratch offs. I get to find out what they are until then.”

“You didn’t get him to tell you what they are?” Ky asks.

Ah, he knows me too well. I smile, “I did!”

“So what are they?”

“A massage, breakfast in bed, and a night together alone.”

“Good ones.”

“Yes. I can’t wait.”

“You’ll enjoy all of them.”

“Yes. How are things going for you?”

“Good. I’ve been hanging out with Mark and Kara. I think Kara is attracted to the manager of this restaurant we frequent. I catch her starting at her.”

“Is she going to ask her out?”

“I don’t know. She doesn’t seem as confident with that compared to work.”

“Well, then you should give her a nudge.” I say teasingly.

“Hey, I do nothing, so I don’t know what to do either.”

“And how many dates have you gone to?”

“But it was always the other guy asking.”

“Well take their example and give Kara a nudge. Help her with her love life!”
