For Whose Good?

Ryder looked at the two pups and smiled. "Congratulations you two! Since when?"

"Well.... It's been a few hours." the dally sheepishly smiled.

"Congrats!!" Katie chimed in. "I've always believed that you two will be together... But I didn't expect it'll happen so soon!"

The spotted pup looked giddy. But the husky looked a bit down.

"Are you okay with us being together?" Everest asked.

"Why wouldn't I? It's natural for you pups." he kneeled to their level and patted their heads. "If it makes you happy, I'll support you all the way."

"You're the best owner, Ryder." Marshall leaped and hugged him.

"And best leader." Everest said before joining the hug.

Ryder wrapped his arms around the two lovers and embraced them for a while before breaking the hug and stood up.

"Have you told the rest of the pups?" he asked.

"About that... We want to tell them when we're ready." Everest replied.

"Our lips are sealed then." Ryder said before looking at Katie. She gave a small approving nod.

"So...." Marshall smirked. "When will you two be couples?"

"What??" Ryder and Katie faced each other before blushing slightly.

"Oh c'mon! You two are perfect together." Everest raised her eyebrow to Katie, teasing her. "And you like him don't ya?"

"Well-" Katie cleared her throat. "Uhm...."

The two exchanged looks again. Marshall was grinning at them widely.

"We're just friends pups." Ryder rapidly made an excuse.

"Yeah... J-Just friends."

"This wasn't supposed to hurt, was it??" Katie thought. "Just friends huh?"

"If you say so then." the husky smirked before trotting off with her boyfriend.

There was silence between the two. Both couldn't stare at each other in the eyes.

"Sorry... I just-"

"It's alright." she gave a fake smile. "You saved us back there. I'll see you later." she said before walking away

"Wait." he took a deep breath.

Katie turned around. Ryder walked closer to her and looked at her in the eyes.

"Do you.... have feelings for me?"

"Hmm... Nothing seems wrong here. You sure your wings just gave out in the middle of the air?" the mix breed asked before putting down his working goggles.

"I'm a hundred percent sure. Chase was there when I fell. Should I call him to give his testimony?"

"I prefer not. I don't want to sit and hear him talking with his 'police' style." he chuckled. "And besides, now that I think about it; I think there's a connection between this technical anomaly with our jammed signal."

"Jammed signal? You mean when our pup tags didn't work earlier?"

"Yup. Certain EMP or Electromagnetic Pulse as you may call it can confuse your wing's circuit and at the same time disable our comms."
