A Step Away

"Ryder's coming with us?!" Rubble's jaw dropped.

"Yes he is... Nat said his last procedure fixed him good as new... We only need to worry about his strength because he had lost a lot of blood..." Chase sighed. "But I want all of us to stay alert and keep him out of danger."

"Here we go again." Marshall face-pawed himself. "I really like Ryder's hard working spirit, but he's being harsh on himself..."

"I honestly couldn't blame him..." Chase added. "If Nat's right, this will be the place and we need him to access the box."

"Yeah... You're right..."

Not Far From The Pups

"Wait, you're going with them?!" Katie said in surprise. "Aren't you still hurt?!"

"Yes..." Ryder silently replied "But they'll need me. I think we're going to find the box there."

"What's so important about that box?"

"It's the only thing that can restore the city."

"What about conventional ways? Building Adventure Bay from the ground up?"

Ryder stood still. "It won't work... Not on this scale..."

Katie walked closer and gave him a tight hug. "Just be careful okay?"

"I will." Ryder smiled and returned the hug.

They cherished each other's embrace once again, but soon they let go from the heartwarming hug and the teen boy walked away. He looked back and gave a reassuring smile. "I'll be fine, don't worry."

He continued on and she softly smiled to herself.

"I hope you keep your words."

At the Cave

"Woah... there's a lot of rubble here..." Skye said in awe.

"Hey that's my name!" Rubble chuckled.

The pups blew in a small fit of laughter.

"Speaking of which, can you break some so we can get through?"

"Sure! Rubble on the double!" the English Bulldog barked.

The pup ran back to the PAW Patroller and soon returned with his bulldozer. He scooped the rocks to reveal a small cave opening with no end in sight.

"That l-looks... Deep... And tight..." Chase shuddered in fear. The German Shepherd was known for being claustrophobic.

"Don't worry Chase." Skye patted him on the back. "The cave is wide enough to fit all of us in."

"I think s-so I sup-pose?"

Ryder took out the map he kept in his pocket. He kneeled down so all the pups can see.

"Just numbers?? How can we suppose to know where to go?" Marshall tilted his head in confusion.

"Don't look too deep into the numbers itself.... The map was cleverly drawn with numbers. Just take a few steps back. Squint if you still can't see it." Rocky explained.

"Good eye Rocky." Ryder said, complimenting the pup.

The pups who were still confused walked back and they wowed at the paper.
