Unveiling The Past

"So, did you find the man?" Nat asked asked as she walked with Ryder for a while.

"Yeah..." He replied swiftly.

"It's him, isn't he?" Ryder stopped in his tracks.

"How do you know?" he glanced at her.

"Just a hunch. Knowing your father he won't be satisfied till he hurt you." she muttered. "He's predictable if I may say."

Silence went over them as they approached the main lobby.

"You're quiet when we talk about him... But you're even more quiet this time... What's wrong?" Nat broke the silence.

"I just.. I wish I could stop him before he blew everything up... Maybe taking the remote or just tackling him... But I just stood there... It's my fault that everything went this way."

Nat put her hands on his shoulders. "Stop it Ryder." she calmly stated. "It's not your fault. If it was meant to be this way, so be it. Don't you see the good deed you've done? You saved a lot of people, and now most of the citizens are safe because of you. Please don't blame yourself... The city blew up because of your father, not you."

"Wait what?" a voice interrupted them.

The pups were there listening to them. Chase gulped, the secret had been leaked.

"So... The one that blew up the city... Was your father?" Marshall said, bewildered.

"And the man we met at the cave, that's him?" Everest added.

Chase wanted to stop the pups and Ryder was going to answer until Nat stopped him.

"Yes. Ryder's father was the culprit." her voice became stern. "And he's the man that some of you met at the cave."

"Madam! Madam!" a staff personnel ran to her.

"What happened?" she took the tab from him.

"What's wrong?" Ryder looked at the tab.

"A distress call... A family of 4 are stuck near the town hall. Looks like their tire bursted."

"What are we waiting for? Let's help them!" Chase exclaimed.

"Agreed!" the rest replied, putting aside what they've discovered.

Nat glanced at Ryder, nodding at him. "To the PAW Patroller!" Ryder commanded.

The pups ran with him to the said vehicle. "Be careful!" Nat waved at them.

The pups hurriedly wore their suits and went to the front.

"We know what we're up to! Rocky, we'll use your dump truck to tow the car! But since we don't know what else we're up to, all paws on deck!"

"Green means go!" Rocky exclaimed.

"Robo-Dog, let's go!"

The vehicle raced out to the city. The pups saw their city after it burned down days ago.

Some were still blazing but most fires had disappeared, leaving nothing but blackness.

"I can't believe this is Adventure Bay..." Rubble whimpered.

"There they are!" Chase pointed at the car.

"I'll go out with Rocky. You all stay here." Ryder ordered and left with him.

The pups watched as their leader left. Chase cleared his throat and sighed.

"We made a mistake..." He said. "We shouldn't had listened to their conversation..."
