Summary: Y/N meets Hermione and her parents for the first time at Flourish & Blotts before heading back to the orphanage for lunch and to read his new books. However, he suddenly gets a vision of a black-haired boy whom he isn't familiar with but vows to help him as much as possible.
The month of August passed by quickly and Y/N was already done with reading almost all of the books that he'd gotten. He also had lunch with Hermione and her parents, who liked him right away. He had also gotten closer to Hermione and the two also spent time going to libraries in the Muggle world. Kelly was pleasantly surprised when Y/N introduced Hermione as his good friend. The two friends traded knowledge and coached each other on spells that they had difficulty in.
Soon, it was time for Y/N and Hermione to head off to Platform 9 and 3/4 at Kings Cross Station. Y/N also had another familiar aside from Irene. A large Eurasian eagle owl named Kayden. Both Kayden and Irene had taken a liking to Hermione. Irene spent most of her time either curled up on Hermione or Y/N's lap or chasing butterflies and playing with Kayden in the orphanage gardens. Y/N had already used Kayden to send both his and Hermione's reply back to the Deputy Headmistress, Professor Minerva McGonagall.
Hermione didn't have a familiar due to her parents' strict rule about not having any pets. At least until she was 13 years old when she was able to taken better care of herself.
"I'm honestly quite excited to go to Hogwarts! Like I've been waiting for an entire month for this very moment!" Hermione was positively shaking with excitement while her voice quavered ever so slightly. Y/N laughed and ruffled her bushy curls. Hermione was wearing a cream-coloured long-sleeved jumper with dark brown accents, dark blue loose fitting pants and white shoes. Y/N was wearing a white inner shirt, black hoodie, pale blue denim jeans and a pair of white trainers.
"Relax, we'll take quite a few hours to get to Hogwarts. So you have plenty of time to get ready."
"Y/N, have you gotten everything? Did you leave anything behind?" Kelly asked him, while checking to ensure that Y/N had packed his spare uniforms, work robes, schoolbooks and underwear. She did the same for Hermione, who kept insisting that she had already packed everything from home.
"I've packed everything, Miss Kelly. Thanks for asking though." Y/N chuckled as he replied.
"I'm more worried that you'd lose your things, Y/N."
"In that case, I'll shrink them then." Y/N flicked his wrist and his trunk immediately started shrinking until it was only the size of a pack of cards, to which he slotted it right into one of his pockets. Hermione hesitated a little before doing the same, opting to keep her luggage in her pocket instead of running the risk of loosing one or two items on their way.
"Kings Cross Station is quite a distance away from here, so you might want to hurry if you don't want to miss the train."
"Bye! We'll see you again next summer!" Y/N and Hermione waved goodbye to Kelly and the children as they made their way to Kings Cross Station. Hermione couldn't stop staring at her train ticket that had the words 'Platform 9 and 3/4' in large print.
"I believe it's here. Platform 9 is here while Platform 10 is just there. There has to be some sort of secret path or portal that will lead us to Platform 9 and 3/4."
Of course, Hermione was somewhat bewildered as she couldn't see where the secret portal was located. Y/N eyed Platforms 9 and 10 thoughtfully. His gaze fell on the solid pillar just a few feet before them before chuckling and bringing Hermione to the pillar that he was looking at earlier. Amazingly enough, nobody seemed to notice the two 11-year-olds standing right in front of a pillar. Y/N reached out and touched the pillar, only to brighten up as his hand passed right through the seemingly solid surface.
