I peered around the corner, looking at him. Out of all the people here, he by far was the most interesting. 

There he was. Nightmare. Sitting upon his throne, writing something in a small dark purple book. Everyone here was absolutely terrifying, even my own brother Error. Of course he wouldn't hurt me but if anyone messed with me or his puppets? He turned into the most terrifying being I have ever seen.

Something was different about Nightmare though. Is he terrifying? Yes. Is he intimidating? Yes. Is there still something about him that I want to know more about? Also yes. There isn't anything stopping me from talking to him except the fact of my own anxiety and shyness. 

I sighed and went to step away but then I saw his single, cyan eye staring into my own E/C eyes. I paused- He saw me. I felt a slow cold shiver down my spine, making my shake slightly. I never looked him in the eye before... now I wish I never did. I was too scared to break eye contact and he sure wasn't going to.

The air felt heavy, and dense, and somehow hot but freezing at the same time. I heard his gruff voice travel through the room, echoing.

"I thought you were to stay away from my throne room." He still hasn't broken eye contact. I'm frozen in fear rendering my speechless. I hear him sigh deeply, and quietly. "Whatever. Did you need something or are you just going to stand there?"

(Nightmare's POV)

I sighed as I stared at the glitch, I could break them in two easily. I would have by now, Error's twin or not, but something is different about them. I can sense people but for some reason I have difficulty sensing them, I would like to do some more research into it. 

They continued to stand there. I sighed and tried to sense their emotions. I felt a string of anxiety slide down my back. Damn, am I making them this scared? Is that why they aren't speaking? I looked down at my hands, closing my notebook, thinking. This is a stupid idea but... I sensed around to be sure that none of the others were here before letting my tar slowly dissipate. 

I then turned to them. 

"See? I'm not so scary." 

(Y/N POV)

I watched as his black tar slowly started to disappear. I was shocked, he looked completely different! The strangest part though was as his tar disappeared I could slowly feel my anxiety become less extreme. 

"Your tar it- it's gone?" I looked at him surprised. I don't understand why, how, what? I think he was able to tell my confusion because he laughed, but even his voice was different. It was still deep but it seemed to be lighter and smoother. He sounded as mature as normal but still child-like somehow. 

"I only-" suddenly he was cut off by my brother Error running into the room with glitched screaming echoing throughout the room. Behind him was Killer chasing after him laughing.

"Come on Error! I just want a hug!" Killer yelled but then paused when he saw Nightmare. In that moment everyone froze, both Killer and Error stared at Nightmare,for a moment before bursting out into laughter. I looked at them both and then back at Nightmare, confused on why they were laughing.

"Wait wait wait hold on. Is that Nightmare? No wayyyyy" Error said as he laughed, his voice still glitching throughout the sentence and laughter. I turned to Nightmare as I saw his tar was back and completely covering him and leaving his one cyan eye open to see. 

"You will NEVER speak of this again!" Nightmare screamed at them as he had his tentacles positioned to attack them. Without thinking I got scared for my brother and ran over, blocking Nightmare's way to Error and Killer. 

"Please don't hurt them, I mean I just don't- I just don't want them to be hurt... please?" Error then paused and looked at me. I already know he is going to yell at me later. Nightmare's tentacles then softened and retracted into his back. Killer took this chance to run. 

"Um whatever. I'm too lazy to hurt them anyways." Nightmare said with a sigh as he turned to his throne and sat. "What are you two still standing here for? Get out of here if you don't need to say anything!" Error and I both quickly nodded and ran off. 

I sighed and took a couple breaths as Error did the same but laying on the floor. I looked around and realized we were in Error's room. I thought back to Nightmare when he took his tar off for me. His whole demeanor changed, when his tar is on he sends off this whole vibe of intimidating energy and self confidence. But when his tar was off he seemed so anxious and insecure. 

"Hey. What are you dazing off for?" I then realized that Error was snapping his fingers right in front of me. 

"Oh! I um was just thinking, that's all. Just thinking." Error sighed, knowing I was not saying everything. 

"Yeah okay but anyways wHY WERE YOU TALKING TO HIM? I told you that you needed to be careful around these guys. They don't care if you're my sibling or not, they can and will kill you. Also what was that bullcrap with running in front of Nightmare like that?! I'm surprised you weren't killed right then and there!" I flinched as he yelled and kept my head down as he yelled, I know he was only worried about me but I hate it when he does this. This wouldn't be the first time, he has always been overprotective of me but it's because I'm the last family member that he has.

I looked up, confused on why he stopped yelling, but something also felt off. Like Nightmare's aurora. There Nightmare was standing right in front of me, I could only see his back but I knew it was him. "Nightmare?! What are you doing?" I heard Error say, obviously confused.

"Stop yelling at Y/N. You don't need to do that. I wouldn't kill them. Also not to mention the fact that if anyone is making them upset right now if you. I could sense their sadness all the way from my room." Nightmare then turned to me and kneeled slightly to match my height. "You good?" 

I couldn't say anything, I was frozen in shock as I felt the butterflies in my stomach flutter when our eyes met. I only nodded. Suddenly I felt Nightmare's hand grab mine and before I knew it the room started to spin and the floor twisted underneath my feet. I then felt his arms wrap around my waist, keeping me from falling

"Sorry, I should have warned you I was going to teleport." I looked around, confused. Yeah we teleported, we were in a completely different room. It was clean and had mostly black furniture and purple LED lights. Was- was this Nightmare's room?

"Um you aren't speaking... did I do something wrong?" I looked back to him not only realizing he still had a hold of me but his face was extremely close to mine. 

"Oh um no you didn't sorry you didn't I was just- was just surprised." I saw a small smile streak his face as I couldn't stop my own small smile from forming. 

Nightmare then went to speak again but was cut off by his door being kicked down. We both froze and looked over to Error in the doorway. "NIGHTMARE!" 

"Uh no no no this isn't what it looks like Error!" Nightmare yelled as he dropped me. "Oops sorry"
