Chapter 7: Unknown Assailant

(Y/N) walked out the mall door feeling great. He started stretching when he finally got out of that mall. "Man, what a day we had. Huh, It's already dark out." He looked around to see that it was around night time. (Y/N) saw John and Sera walking out of the mall as well.

"That's because you slept until 2 pm." (Y/N) ignored what she said. The three of them went to the bus stop, only to find it packed with people. "Ugh, it's so crowded."

"Let's go to a different bus stop then." John pointed out. "There's one nearby, across the park!"

The three of them were walking in the park, the park lights were brightly lit, but it was empty. There were no people around except for them. (Y/N) saw John turn his head around before turning it back. He raised a brow, he turned around but saw nothing. John and (Y/N) suddenly heard Sera giggling.

"What's so funny?" John asked. (Y/N) was listening to the conversation while enjoying the cool air blowing on him.

"You built that up so much, I thought a war was about to go down," Sera answered with her snide remarks. "But you just ended up screaming for help. So anti-climatic."

John was silent before answering back. "He shouldn't have had to return the money. That lady was clearly in the wrong. But she ended up getting her way just because she was more powerful. It's so frustrating!"

Both Sera and (Y/N) were silent. Sera elbowed him in the gut playfully. "Don't be so negative. Worry about yourself more. At least you didn't break an arm today."

(Y/N) snorted before John elbowed him in the gut. "Anyways, have yo--?"

John didn't finish that sentence because he turned his head around again. This time Sera noticed him doing it. "What is it?"

John didn't say anything. He quickly grabbed Sera's arm and dragged her with him. "Let's go."

(Y/N) was still processing this before he saw them leaving him behind. "Ack! Hey, wait!" He started running with them as well.

The three of them ran across the street until they got on the pavement. "This way!" They still ran until they went behind an alleyway. John then placed his bag down and went through it. He grabbed his shirt and threw it in the air. But it didn't land on the floor like it was supposed to. Instead, it landed in the air. "..!"

"It's invis--" (Y/N) didn't finish that sentence because Sera activated her ability. Time Manipulation. She froze time and quickly round housed the invisible assailant. She unfroze time, and everything went back to normal. "-ible!"

Sera placed her foot down from kicking, and everyone processed what had happened for a minute. Sera decided to break the ice. "Let's get outta here."

"A-Ah, right!"

(BREAK)

The three of them were panting after running to John's house, after getting off the bus. Everyone looked at each other before breathing out heavily. "What the hell was that...?" Sera asked while leaning on the wall in John's house.

John, having his hands on his knees still panting, had no idea. "I don't know. I think some guy was trying to mug us."

(Y/N), who was also up against the wall next to Sera, was in deep thought. But I didn't sense any danger from him. It couldn't have been a mugger. Who could it have been?
