I Hate You

"I can't believe this"

"This is your fault, I hope you know that"

"How is it my fault, Jeon Jungkook?! You kept throwing things at me!"

"You're the one who made a big deal out of it, Choi Yujin!"

I open my mouth, trying to think of a comeback, but slouch in my chair when I can't. I huff and blow a piece of hair out of my face, ignoring his smirk.

"Know your place Yujin~"

I shoot the boy across from me a glare and scoff, trying to ignore his teasing and mockery.

"I feel bad for whoever your soulmate is" I felt a pang in my chest, but don't show it.

"At least I don't fool around with tons of people other than my soulmate"

Jungkook stands up and slams the table, leaning towards me with a humorless grin on his face.

"That's where you're wrong Yujin. I'm waiting for my soulmate. I can't help my killer good looks"

This kid.

"Killer good looks? Oh please, you look like my left toe"

Jungkook smirks and leans even closer to my face, but my face remains emotionless, a skill I've mastered throughout the years. He frowns a bit at my reaction, but still talks.

"Believe it or not, Choi Yujin, you're gonna have a soulmate, and that soulmate isn't gonna ever like you back, which is what you deserve"

That's another thing. Soulmates. We live in a world where everyone has their destined soulmate. On January 2nd, all high school juniors earn the ability to find their soulmate and bond with them by touching them. It isn't rare to see high schoolers asking to poke everyone who passes on the street.

However, once a person bonds with their soulmate, they must have physical connection until their bond is stable, or else they will slowly die. Lastly, touch isn't the only thing that draws someone to their soulmate. Apparently, people feel a force or some sort of spiritual guidance that leads them straight to their soulmate.

Soulmates aren't real. They never will be in my mind. My parents were "soulmates", people who were supposed to love each other forever, yet they still managed to break that bond. Soulmates are fake. It's a shame all these lovesick teenagers are so gullible.

My eyes sting a bit at what Jungkook had just said, but I still bottle it back down.

"I hate you" I whisper.

"Good to know the feelings are mutual" He leaves me there to talk with his friends, girls surrounding them.

I hear one conversation next to me, "Imagine how lucky their soulmates are! I wish it could be me!"

Trust me. You don't want to be soulmates with Jeon Jungkook. He's not worth it.

I stand up to leave to go to lunch, and quickly make my exit through the door without being noticed. I let out a sigh of relief and put my head down.

Before I know it, somebody's pulling my hair, I grab the hand quickly and dig my nails into the skin.

"OWWWWW" Jungkook whines, trying to pull away. I only do it harder.

"That's what you deserve" I smirk at him and finally pull away after a minute of him complaining.

I pick up my stuff and walk away as Jungkook observes his now damaged forearm.

"YAH! Choi Yujin!"

I turn back to see him running towards me. I come up with a plan.

He grabs my wrist to pull me to the side but I interrupt.

"Someone help! This guy is hurting me! Jungkook let me go!" I fake cry and 'try' to pull away and dramatically fall on the floor, causing a scene.

There are teachers giving Jungkook a nasty glare and some knowing students snickering.

"I'll get you back for this" I look up at him and his unhappy expression and smile at it.

I get up and walk past him, putting a hand on his shoulder, "We'll see about that"
