"You're engaged?! Are you crazy?! After what happened the other night?!" Alex shouted over the phone. The boys just saw it on Holly's status on Facebook.

Zack was alone right now. He locked himself in his bedroom, drinking cans of cans of beer.

"I panicked, Alex. She was being insecure and stuff. Also, I didn't mean it that way. I didn't even asked her. She just assumed." Zack explained.

Alex sighed on the other line. "What was it that you said?"

"I just told her that I wouldn't want to marry or date anyone if they were ugly. So, I was like, you're beautiful and that's why I'm with you. And then she was all like, yes, I would marry you. I tried explaining it to her that I didn't mean it that way, but she looked like she got stabbed a hundred times. I pitied her." Zack threw an empty can across the room.

Alex became silent for a minute. "Man, you've got to tell her. It's better to tell the truth than to lie and pity her. It's going to hurt her soon."

Zack drank another can. "Alright. She's not home right now. I don't even know where she went."

"Relax. Calm yourself and prepare your words. Tell the truth, man."

Zack nodded. "Alright. I'll do that."

Zack heard Lisa in the background asking what had happened. Alex told her that Zack accidentally proposed to Holly, and she gasped.

"That would devastate Sunday. Poor her. Poor Zack." Zack heard Lisa said. "Well, he must do something."

"He is, babe. Just calm down, alright? You're pregnant." Alex chuckled. Lisa giggled and said goodbye to Zack and went somewhere.

Zack heard the front door shut and squinted his eyes. "Man, I got to go. Holly's here now. I'll update you later."

"Sure. Man up. Be honest."

"Right." Zack ended the call and sat up. He stretched his arms and legs before standing up.

He walked to the bedroom door slowly, planning what to say to Holly on his head.

I can do this.

"Babe?" Holly called out. Zack went out and stood in front of his door.

"Yup. I'm here."

Holly went running and hugged his boyfriend. "You smell like alcohol. Have you been drinking?"

Zack nodded at her. "Yes. Holly, I need to tell you something."

Holly smiled. "Yeah? What? Anyway, my parents called and congratulated us. They were so happy."

Fuck.

"I'm glad, but there's no wedding that is happening." Zack blurted. Holly dropped the glass of water she was holding and looked at Zack.

"What?"

"There's no wedding that is happening, Holly. I'm sorry." Zack shrugged.

Holly's eyes became watery. "What do you mean, Zack?"

"I didn't even asked you. You just assumed."

"But you said . . ." Holly's voice cracked.

Zack inhaled deeply. "I never said anything. It was all a misunderstanding. I was even shocked that it made me quiet for hours. I'm sorry."

Holly shook her head no. "No, no, Zack. We're getting married. And that's that. No more backing up. I know you're scared. I am, too. You're drunk, as well."

Be honest about what you truly feel, Zack.

Zack bit his lip. "No. I am sorry, Holly. This is not about me being scared or about you. I am just tipsy, and they did say drunk words are real. I am just not ready yet for that kind of commitment. This thing is still not on my mind. I just want to enjoy life with you. If marriage is really for the both of us, then sure. It will happen someday. Maybe not to me and you, but who knows?"

Holly was a crying mess now. She was saying words that Zack cannot understand. Maybe she's cursing him.

Zack wouldn't want to cause any more harm, so he left Holly in that state and went out of the apartment.

Was I too honest? Was I too rude? But reality is always harsh. She should accept that.

Zack was on his car and decided to go to a bar nearby. It was only three in the afternoon and there were only thirteen people there.

He sighed and rubbed his head. He was stressing himself too much. He just wants to get drunk more than how drunk he is right now.
