Enemy in town

The next day

Third person pov

All the genin in the village were working hard to rebuild. It would probably take long to have it all done, but progress was being made. Two men were staring at a girl and her two teammates. "How are we going to take them with us? Leader-sama wants them now." one of the men said. He had a low voice and he wore a big hat. "Do you have a plan brother?"

The other men wore sunglasses and the lower half of his face was covered with a mask. He had a surprisingly high pitched voice. "We'll take them when they're alone, when we have the element of surprise."

The hooded man smirked. "You suggest following them around and take them when they're alone, huh?" he murmured. "Good plan, brother."

Suddenly, one of the boys started to run. "Kazuki, wait up!" the other boy yelled while running after him. The girl sighed and followed them.

The men followed them, hiding their chakra. "I wonder why he ran off..." the one with the hat said. "But I guess we'll see."

Kazuki stopped in front of the gate. "Look!" he said while pointing in the distance.

"Why is he leaving the village alone?" Ayame questioned. "Why is he leaving in the first place?"

"Now's our change!" the masked man said, but he saw someone else walking towards Kazuki and his team.

"Gai-sensei!" Kazuki yelled. The man looked up and smiled. He ran towards them and hugged them. "Oh my youthful butterflies!" he exlaimed. "Why are you standing in front of the gate?"

"You should... release the... hug first." Ayame said. Gai quickly released them. "Kazuki saw someone leaving the village and ran away. Kazuo and I followed him."

"Do you know who it was?" Gai asked.

"No, he was too far away to be recognized. I could guess, but it might be wrong."

"You should visit the hospital." Gai said. "Your dad is laying there, even after I saved him from being killed by Itachi Uchiha!"

"Thanks for the warning, I'll visit him right away!" Ayame replied before running off. Kazuki and Kazuo decided to stay with Gai and help out.

"Who should be following who?" the masked man said. "Leader-sama wants all three of them."

"I'll follow the girl." they heard a soft, female voice behind them. "You two can follow the boys. Just don't get killed, will ya?" The woman had short, black hair and green eyes. She ran off to follow the girl, who was heading to the hospital.

"I'm here to visit my father, Kakashi Hatake." Ayame told the woman at the desk.

"I don't know or he's awake, but I'll show you where his room is." the woman replied calmly. "I'm warning you, he isn't in a very good state."

"I know that already." Ayame replied. "Gai-sensei told me... and or else he wouldn't be in the hospital, would he?" She followed the woman to a room. As soon as she entered, the woman left. Ayame walked towards a bed where a man lay with silver hair. "Dad..." Ayame muttered. "What have you gotten yourself in to?"

She suddenly felt a hand on her mouth. "You're coming with me, brat!" she heard a female voice. She punched the woman in her stomach, jumped in front of the bed holding a kunai.

"Who are you?!" she demanded. "What are you doing here?!"

"I might have underestimated you, brat." she said. "But I'm not going to dissapoint Leader-sama. I'm not going to let one of his experiments get away!"

"Experiment? Of who?" Ayame thought. "Who's your master?!" she said.

The woman chuckled. "Oh, I forgot he never shows his face to his experiments." she said. "I just hope those two can get hold of your teammates."

"What kind of experiment?!" Ayame said. "Tell me!"

The woman shook her head. "No way I'm telling you, brat." she said. "I've got strict orders from Leader-sama. Taking you and your teammates to him without revealing too much information."

Ayame threw the kunai at the woman, but she dodged it. "You think that's going to work on me?!" she hissed at Ayame. "I'm telling you it won't!" The woman leaped towards Ayame, pulling out a kunai. "I'm sure Leader-sama wouldn't mind if you've got a few scratches."

Ayame blocked her attack with a kunai and tried to push her away. The woman didn't move at all. Ayame activated her Sharingan to be able to copy her moves, even though her wasn't well trained yet. She still needed more training. She made handsigns and lightning formed in her hand. The woman looked surprised, shocked and scared at the same time. "You didn't expect me to use a jutsu like this, didn't you?" Ayame said in a cocky tone. She ran towards the woman, who was trying to run away.

"How could you..." the woman muttered, her green eyes widened in horror. "That's a high class jutsu!"

"My father taught me." Ayame replied. "It still needs some work though." She reached the woman's chest and her hand went through it. The woman looked terrified.

"I... failed... you, Leader-sama." she managed to say before falling on the floor. Ayame pulled out her hand, which was covered. I just killed someone... she thought. And I'm just twelve!

Ayame was kinda disgusted be herself. She was just twelve years old and she made her first kill. Suddenly, the doors opened and the woman who lead her to the room was looking at the - now dead - woman. There was a hole in her chest and the hands of the girl were covered in blood. "What happened?!" she asked.

"She tried to abduct me." Ayame replied. "To her master, who had been experimenting on me."

"Did you..." the woman said, but Ayame interrupted her.

"I was desperate and I didn't know what to do. If I wouldn't have, she would've probably fleed and returned later."

Three more persons entered the room in a hurry, two boys and an adult. "Ayame, are you okay?" a boy with red hair said. His green eyes locked with the onyx eyes of his friend. "What happened in here?"

The adult nodded. "What happened..." he muttered while staring at her hand. "Did you just..." he continued while looking at the dead woman.

"That must have been the woman those guys talked about! We came here as soon as possible, thinking you were in danger!" the boy with blue hair said.

"You were attacked too?" Ayame said. "That woman told me she wasn't alone and that you were being targeted too."

"Those guys talked about us being experiments..." Kazuo muttered. "and they talked about a master."

"She talked about that too." Ayame replied. "I wonder who their master is and what kind of experiment."

"We need to report this to the Council!" the adult, Gai said. "They might send more people to Konoha to take you."

Ayame nodded. "That's quite possibly." she said. "It seems like we're very important for his experiments. What if this is the explanation for the three of us skipping four years?"

Kazuo nodded in agreement. "That would explain a lot, but what kind of technique could they have used?"

"One thing's for sure," Gai stated. "the Akatsuki isn't our only problem anymore."

Kazuki, Kazuo, Ayame and Gai headed towards the Council to warn them for strangers who were aiming to abduct three shinobi from the village.

"Did she say anything about what kind of experiment it was?" Kazuo asked Ayame.

Ayame shook her head. "She didn't say anything useful. How about those men you were referring to?"

"No, they didn't spill a word."
