///Readers POV///
'It was a mistake. I..I shouldnt have gotten him involved with this. Is it too late?..'
///Okay nvm this will be easier to write in narrator pov lol///
Y/n watched the monitors, seeing Sara expose Joe as the sacrifice. She turned away from the monitor, trying to distract herself from the guilt that she felt. Y/n knew what shes doing is wrong, but she really doesnt give a shit about the others, the only one she cares about is Joe. And knowing she is causing his death is making her feel horrible. She betrayed him. She loves him so much...So why is she doing this to him?
"I love you Sara, you're my best friend!"
It was time. Y/n quickly rushed to put the headset on that she uses to communicate with the floor masters. She sat down at her desk in a hurry.
"Miley! Do not kill him! Look, only harm him enough to knock him unconscious. If you kill him there will be consequences. Do you understand?" Y/n spoke into the headset while watching the monitors, waiting for an answer.
"Yes ma'am. I wont kill him." Miley responded
Y/n watched the wrigglers suck some of the blood out of Joe. Sara was desperately clicking that useless button, and everyone else watched in horror. Y/n felt relieved he wouldnt die, but she still felt bad making him go through this pain. After a few seconds, Joe went unconscious. Miley turned off the wrigglers and Joe fell to the floor. Sara tried to run over to him but Miley stopped her. "Sorry! I'm afraid you cant go near the corpse. He's dead, get over it sweetheart!" Miley laughed at Sara, who was screaming and crying. After everyone left the main game area. Joe was rushed to the hospital bed they had in a secret room. (The photo at the beginning of the chapter)
Y/n ran to the secret room and looked at the unconscious boy on the hospital bed. She sighed as Safalin started to treat his wounds since she has medical knowledge. "He's gonna be okay, right?" Y/n asked, worried. "Y-Yes. He will be o-okay..." Safalin responded as she finished what she was doing.
//The next day///
Y/n was watching the monitors, the participants were conversating, doing attractions, or just exploring the third floor. Every few minutes she would speak into her headset, giving the floor masters tasks or something to do or take care of. Y/n decided to check on Joe. She got up and carefully snuck into the room where Joe was. She started down at him, silently wishing he would wake up. And to her surprise, she saw his eyes open slightly. Joe adjusted to the light and looked over at Y/n. "....Y/n?.....Why are you here...Wasnt I going to be killed..?" He tried to sit up slightly, but he was still a bit weak.
Y/n ignored his question "Im so glad youre okay." She held his hand and smiled. "Y/n you didnt answer my question..Why are you here?" Joe cautiously moved his hand away from Y/n. "Well...Lets just say that i'm an important part of this death game..And I saved you." Y/n looked away from him, knowing he was going to get upset.
"So....Are you the mastermind..?" Joe asked, hoping Y/n's answer would be no. He looked at her and saw Y/n nod her head, still avoiding eye contact. Joe didn't know how to react. He was surprised, hurt, and felt betrayed.. 'Why would she do this..? She almost got me killed? She got Mishima killed?..' Joe started to feel a bit of anger. "So you killed Mishima? You nearly killed me? All of this is your fault?" Joe tried not to raise his voice, trying to remain as calm as he can. "Did you WANT to kill me? What about people in the first trials that didnt make it out alive? What about Kannas sister? You're the monster that killed them? You're..You're a murderer-"
"Im sorry, Joe! I have to do this. I know I'm a monster and a literal fucking murderer. But you wouldnt understand! This whole death game is a mess that even I can barely keep under control! Theres also a whole damn organization thats making me do this. I saved you because I cant stand the thought of you dying!" Y/n calmed herself down, once she did she made eye contact with Joe. "Once you are fully healed your memory of this death game will be wiped and you will be sent home." Y/n was going to leave the room but Joe grabbed her hand. "No. You need to set the others free. Im not gonna let you kill them one by one!" Y/n sighed. "Joe, it isnt that easy. You have no clue how much trouble I would be in if I let everyone go."
"Y/n please! You love me, right? So would you please do this, for me?" Joe sighed. "I do love you, which is why you arent dead right now. But I cant let everyone go, Im sorry." Y/n moved her hand away and left the room, leaving Joe there by himself.
///Like an hour later///
Y/n was considering letting the participants go. This game was annoying anyways, it wasnt as fun as Asunaro made it sound. Asunaro would probably kill her if she let them go though. 'What am I thinking? Im not letting them go.' Y/n thought to herself.
//When joe was healed//
Y/n was watching the monitors, seeing everyone do death attractions. She went to go check on Joe. She went into the room he was in and looked at him. "How are you feeling?" Y/n asked him. He didnt respond. He looked away from her, refusing to look her in the eye.
"Joe come on, dont be like that. Are your wounds feeling better?" Y/n asked again. Joe nodded, still not making eye contact. "Thats good. Safalin told me youre pretty much healed so we will let you go today. Since your mempry is being wiped you will not recall seeing me here. You will not recall the death game. Ill see you after this game ends." Y/n said in a monotone voice as she checked the papers on a nearby desk, making sure Joe was healed.
"Why are you doing this?" Joe asked quietly. Y/n turned around to face him "For many reasons Joe. Its not your concern. Im sorry you had to go through this."
Y/n called for Safalin to erase his memories of the death game. She arrived with the things she needed, and Y/n looked at Joe for the last time since she wouldnt see him for a while. "Goodbye, Joe. Im sorry." Y/n walked out the the room.
