Joes POV////
It happened.....It actually happened...They voted for me, I get to escape!
"Good job to our winner, Jou Tazuna! You may choose one other participant to take with you!" Miley announced, waiting for Joe to choose someone.
Uh oh. I didn't think this far through. Who am I going to take with me? I saw Sara and Y/N staring at me, waiting for an answer. "I- uhm.." I couldn't choose. They both meant so much to me. I don't want to see either of them die.
Narrators POV///
"Joe..." Sara said quietly. She was hoping, silently praying he would choose her. She didn't want to die here. She could die anywhere else but here, in this horrible game, is not an option. "Joe we've been through so much together, you cant just leave me here now, right? We are best friends, after all." Sara knew she was guilt tripping him, but this was life or death. So she did what was necessary to try to survive. Sara continued making eye contact with him, not looking away.
Y/N finally decided to say something. "Joe, I know you're probably going to choose Sara. A-And thats okay. I really w-wanted to escape with you, b-but you and S-Saras friendship is much more important, isn't it?" Y/N said, holding back her tears. Death was her biggest fear. She was only 17. Why did this have to happen to her? What did she do to deserve this fate? Its not fair. She looked at the ground. "I-I don't wanna die." A few tears rolled down Y/N's cheek, but she tried to wipe them away as fast as possible.
"Hurry up, Tazuna. The clock is ticking." Miley said with impatience in her tone.
Joe was still having trouble deciding. His girlfriend or his best friend? Y/N, the girl who would always hug him when he was sad, take him on cute dates, the girl who would stay up till 5am talking to him over the phone. He loved her so much...But then there was Sara. His best friend. The one who would buy him keychains and hair clips. They would have so much fun when they went to karaoke with Ryoko. They had so many good times. He couldn't decide. He looked at Sara, she had a desperate look in her eyes. You could see how much she was panicking inside. Joe then looked over at Y/N, who was crying but tried to wipe her tears the seconds they rolled down her face. His heart broke seeing the people he cared about the most like this. "Joe please....I'm begging you." Sara said, her voice cracking slightly as she did.
Joe saw Shin moving towards Sara....What was he doing? Shin quickly put his scarf around her and disabled her collar. Miley was facing away from Sara so she didnt notice. Joe thought of a plan.. "I choose Y/N to take with me" Joe finally said. "Alright! Our winner has made his decision! Please exit through that door!" Miley pointed to a secret door in the wall, leading up a long staircase. Joe quickly grabbed Saras arm and pushed her out the door before Miley could notice. "Cmon Y/N" Joe said, grabbing Y/N hand as they ran out the door. As it closed..They could hear everyone's screams as they died....Even gins. Joe told the two girls to cover their ears as they walked up the stairs. Y/N didnt bother to cover her ears, she was still wiping tears off her face. She was happy to be alive, but she was in shock, and she felt guilty hearing the others screams. She held Joe's hand as they walked up the stairs, needing to mentally remind herself she was still alive. She was okay.
Once they got out there was a phone on the ground, there was a note on it saying "Call your parent or guardian to pick you up. Congratulations Joe Tazuna and Y/N." Joe decided to call his mom to pick everyone up. She got there a few minutes later. Joes mom drove to Saras house first, asking constant questions on the way. They tried to answer the questions the best they could. Once they got to Saras house, Sara got out of the car and went inside. Not even waving goodbye. Then the drove to Y/N's house, she said goodbye to Joe and then went into her house. Once Joe got home, he took some time to process what just happened.
