because i dropped your hand while dancing
As Clara opened her eyes, she realised where she had fallen asleep. On the back pew in the church. Suddenly, she sat up to see if anyone had also fallen asleep in the church. The whole place was wrecked, red cups lying everywhere and dozens of empty bottles on the altar. She knew if Helena was her she would freak out. A couple of rows in front of her was Allie lying on the floor with Cassandra sitting on the pew awake.
"Hey Clara."
"Hey Cassandra, " she said, whilst still looking around the church.
On the opposite side from her, she could see Will Harry and Luke. Where was Kelly? She couldn't remember her leaving last night but to be honest she couldn't remember much about the previous night.
Hearing a groan from them, Clara watched as Grizz and Harry woke up and registered where they were.
"Harry, where's Kelly ?"
His face dropped. Something had happened, she just knew.
"Uhm we sorta had an argument last night so she either went back to Gwen's house or her own."
Despite her doubts, she could tell that he was telling the truth. Harry was never the type to lie, especially to Clara. Even though she didn't know it, he always had a soft spot for her, for the girl who he could only talk to in secret in fear of getting hurt.
When everyone had woken up, she texted Kelly to see if she was fine and where she was. She quickly replied saying that she was fine and that she slept at Gwen's but now she was on the way to the church. Clara breathed a sigh of relief.
They were all sitting outside now, getting fresh air to try and cure their hangover.
"I'll get a car and go to Greenwich to get help," Cassandra announced.
"Why you," Harry questioned.
"Someone has to find out where everyone went."
"I'll do it."
"You're sober ?"
"Fuck you, Cassandra."
Harry wasn't usually like this. He was obviously reeling from his hangover.
Clara turned to Sam and Alie who were having a conversation.
"Do you notice that," Sam signed.
Clara had picked up quite a bit of sign language since she and Sam would hang out whenever Campbell and Max were out but she didn't know as much as Becca who was fluent.
"Notice what."
"The smell, it's gone."
Clara sniffed. Sam was right. The smell was gone. The bad feeling in her stomach suddenly came rushing back like a tidal wave. The feeling that something dark was happening in West Ham.
The feeling grew when she got a text from harry telling her, Allie and the others to come to the bridge on the way to Greenwich. They hopped in Cassandra's car and drove to the bridge. None of them spoke the whole way.
When they arrived, Clara's worst nightmare came true.
There was no way out.
