Melanie's POV:

"Stop Fiona, I can't take this dress with me, it's too short!"

"You have to impress the boys at university."

"You know exactly that I have a boyfriend."

"I still think he isn't the right one. You deserve much better!"

With a sceptical face, I look into the eyes of my best friend. She turns back to my closet with a smirk on her face. I still don't understand why she doesn't like him. In my eyes he's the sweetest boy in the world! He has everything a girl wants. Bryan is always honest and treats everyone so nicely.

"Are you thinking about how totally right I am with what I just said?"

"Shut up", I roll my eyes and throw a pillow at her face. Just a few seconds later, I also get a pillow thrown at my head. A few more pillows fly around the room until we collapse on my bed because our bellies hurt from laughing.

"But now for real, aren't you even a bit nervous because of tomorrow?
What if our flatmate doesn't like us or doesn't fit in with us?"

"You don't have to care about what comes next, Fiona.
I will always be by your side, no matter what happens."

"Naawww, you're the best! I don't think I would survive there without you!"

And I wouldn't without you, I tell myself inwardly, without saying it out loud. I can not unsettle her but I don't even know for myself if I'm good enough for Juilliard. I can't disappoint my parents because they gave up so much for my dream. I have to get this done now, for my family and for my best friend.

Suddenly Fiona turns up the radio with a big smile. It isn't just any song that streams out of the radio. No, it's our song. With a big jump, Fiona lands on my bed and challenges me with her look to join in. Without wasting a thought, I follow her onto my bed. The first word of the song rings out as we both start to sing along at full volume. "Why you always in a mood? F*ckin' round, actin' brand new. I ain't tryna tell you what to do, but try to play it cool. Baby, I ain't playing by your rules. Everything look better with a view."

Right in this moment the door opens slowly. At first I don't notice it because I am so absorbed in the song with my best friend. Only when my little brother Sean sticks his head in and a quiet "Oh my god.." comes out of his mouth, I turn towards the door.

"Why are you bothering us? Don't you realise that we're busy?" I hear a small laugh behind me. Fiona didn't expect such a statement. Sean just looks in puzzled and doesn't know what to answer first. "So, what do you want?" I'm getting annoyed because our song is about to end all I want to do is move on. "A normal sister, for starters" he replies with a grin. "Actually, I just wanted to tell you that you have a visitor downstairs." he added after a few seconds.

Fiona looks questioningly at me, but I just shrug my shoulders. In fact, I expect no one in particular at this time. So we get up the bed and follow Sean downstairs. At the door I catch sight of Bryan. There's a soft "Oh, here we go" behind me. Fiona knows exactly that Bryan and I are about to have a serious talk, which I have been dreading for days. Instead of thinking about what is about to happen, I prefer to look into his sparkling eyes.

"Hello, my love." he greets me, making me blush and putting a smile on my face. He gives me a soft kiss. At this moment, I don't know if I can be without him any time. I ask Fiona and Bryan if we should go back upstairs. "Actually I'm getting a bit hungry right now. You two can go alone." Fiona replies. I know exactly what she is getting at. We have to get our conversation about our future together behind us.
