Assalamu alaykum - at this point, I don't even have to apologise for the late upload. You guys already know that's my vibe 😂

Before I begin the chapter, quick little shoutout to an Instagram account that you should all follow:

@_MUSLIMAH_THOUGHTS

Loads of beneficial posts and I hear she even gives shoutouts to really good books on her story like one called 'Finding Islam'. Never read that one tbh, but I hear it's pretty decent.

Now that you've followed 👀

- A'ISHAH'S POV -

It had been just over a week since Hanifa and brother Ahmad had gotten married and we were yet to hear from them properly. Alhamdulillah, they had travelled to a getaway house - the same one that King and I had went to for three days during his days off - and the only message he had received since then was Ahmad telling him that his recommendation had lived up to their expectations.

Calling it a 'honeymoon' would be troublesome for one of two reasons. The first being that 'honeymooning' was a custom of the non Muslims and completely disassociated from Islam, hence why calling it a 'honeymoon' indicated that one was following and imitating the non Muslim customs. Regarding this, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, said, warning us against following their ways and traditions: "You would follow the ways of those who came before you step by step, to such an extent that if they were to enter a lizard's hole, you would enter it too." They said, "O Messenger of Allaah, do you mean the Jews and Christians?" He said, "Who else?"

In a more known hadith, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, also said: "Whoever imitates a people is one of them."

The second reason why it was troublesome, not to call it a honeymoon, but to actually go on one, besides the main reason of not imitating the kuffar, was that it was very easy for a honeymoon to fall under extravagance. Being rich or obtaining worldly wealth should never be a priority for the Muslim, especially if it takes away from their time of gaining spiritual wealth. Thus, we had to always be mindful of our spending.

There were people who would buy new shoes every month, and that's all well and good, but those same people wouldn't give nearly as much money on a monthly basis in charity. There were some people who would buy clothes on top of clothes to the point where there was no room left in their closet, but the very same people did not spend their money in the cause of Allah swt. Or people who would buy too much food for their household to the point where they throw food out while their neighbour goes hungry even though Ibn Abbas reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "He is not a believer whose stomach is filled while the neighbor to his side goes hungry."
