- KING'S POV -

"W-What!?" I recoiled, moving away from her.  "What did you just say?"

My heart pounded in my chest as I showed disgust in my features.

Despite this, she had the audacity to ask her question again.

"Are you cheating on..."

"I HEARD YOU!" I shouted, getting off the couch.

Her eyes widened and she jumped back in fear, flinching at the sound of my voice and looking down.

There was absolutely no way I was letting her live this down. How she had the confidence and nerve to ask me such a question was beyond me.

"Where the hell did you come to that conclusion from!?" I asked her. I needed to know. "Did someone say something?"

I had to find out exactly what it was that led her to thinking I had done such a shameful act.

"You did!" She yelled back finally, her reserve breaking as she too shot off the couch and stood across me.

"Me!?" I sputtered. "What the hell did I do?"

Once again, she stopped, her chest heaving as she breathed, not saying a word for several seconds which felt like hours.

"Speak, A'ishah!" I ordered.

She could not throw around such a horrendous accusation and expect me to be okay with it without interrogating her.

"Yesterday." She stated, more quietly this time. "I heard you on the phone. You said you lied about going to basketball. That I wouldn't find out." She sobbed, tears running down her face. "That you lied to me. You said you deleted messages." She crumbled, covering her face with her hands.

Oh my god.

The phone call with Ayman.

لا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلا بِالله

"Wow." I muttered. "You were eavesdropping on my conversation?" I accused her.

"That's all you have to say!? You were speaking to some girl and that's all you can say!?" She had the cheek to shout, as though I was admitting to having cheated on her.

"It was Ayman! I was speaking to Ayman, A'ishah!"

"You're lying!" She shouted back, her eyes red as she continued crying through her words. "You're cheating on me!"

I felt pain shoot through my body at the fact that she could even entertain the idea of me cheating on her with another woman. I stared at her in shock, giving my all not to show my disgust.

When I didn't speak, she took it as her cue to continue accusing me.

"I heard all of it, King! You said I would hate you if I found out what you were doing with her! What was it that I would hate you for? For sleeping around!?"

"SHUT UP!" I roared, barely recognising my own voice. I felt like any glass in the house would shatter at the loudness of my voice.

It wasn't my voice, but my hand sweeping across the vanity that made all the decorative items slam around the floor, a few of them breaking and shattering into little pieces.

"Well guess what...I hate you, King!"

I couldn't believe the words that were coming out of her mouth tonight. It felt as though I was in some sort of nightmare. This was all a fragment of my imagination and that I would wake up and the A'ishah standing across me right now would disappear.
