WARNING: BLOOD OF OLYMPUS SPOILER PARAGRAPH!!! YOU DONT WANNA READ IT BEFORE READING BOO!!! AND FEELS MAY OVERTAKE YOUR BODY AGAIN.

The last thing I remember is collapsing on a wooden porch, looking up at a ceiling fan circling above me, moths flying around a yellow light, and the stern faces of a familiar-looking bearded man and a pretty girl, her blond hair curled like a princess's. They both looked down at me, and the girl said, "He's the one. He must be."

Percy sat on the bench and watched his kids play with their own sons and daughters.

Sons and daughters.

He looked down at his old, worn out hand entwined with Annabeth's soft ones and smiled.

Annabeth's hand slipped into mine. Under different circumstances I would've been embarrassed, but here in the dark I was glad to know where she was. It was about the only thing I was sure of.

She looked so beautiful. Even at such an old age, she was still just as beautiful as she had been fifty years ago.

Percy looked back at the children running around. Sally turned around a grinned at him, cradling her two year son in her arms. She was twenty two now, his youngest daughter; named after Percy's mother.

"Think positive. Tomorrow you're off to camp! After orientation, you've got your date-" "It's not a date!" I protested. "It's just Annabeth, Mom. Jeez!"
"She's coming all the way from camp to meet you."
"Well, yeah."
"You're going to the movies."
"Yeah."
"Just the two of you."
"Mom!"

That was so long ago. She was probably in Elysium now, waiting for him.

Annabeth rested her head on his shoulders and wound her other arm around his.

Percy kissed her forehead lovingly, gazing down at her blonde curls, now greying bit by bit.

I found myself staring at her, which was stupid since I'd seen her a billion times. She and I were about the same height this summer, which was a relief. Still, she seemed so much more mature. It was kind of intimidating. I mean, sure, she'd always been cute, but she was starting to be seriously beautiful.

They had been sixteen. Just sixteen, at the brink of a war and on the edge of falling completely in love.

So many sweet memories. So many precious moments he wanted to preserve forever.

With a huge cheer, they carried us down the hill, but they kept us close enough to hold hands. Annabeth was laughing, and I couldn't help laughing too, even though my face was completely red.
We held hands right up to the moment they dumped us in the water.
Afterward, I had the last laugh. I made an air bubble at the bottom of the lake. Our friends kept waiting for us to come up, but hey-when you're the son of Poseidon, you don't have to hurry.
And it was pretty much the best underwater kiss of all time.

They had been through so many visions fights. Through so much turmoil but in the end, it all paid off.

Percy threw his arms around her. They kissed, and for a moment nothing else mattered.

They had appreciated every given moment, ready to say goodbye at a moment's notice.

Annabeth managed a faint smile. "Some romantic evening, huh? No more bad things until the morning." She kissed him again. "We'll figure everything out. I've got you back. For now, that's all that matters."
"Right," Percy said. "No more talk about Gaea rising, Nico being held hostage, the world ending, the giants-"
"Shut up, Seaweed Brain," she ordered. "Just hold me for a while."
They sat together cuddling, enjoying each other's warmth. Before Percy knew it, the drone of the ship's engine, the dim light, and the comfortable feeling of being with Annabeth made his eyes heavy, and he drifted to sleep.

They'd been through the toughest situations with nothing but their love for each other.

"Architecture." Percy murmured. The fog started to clear from his eyes. "Thought you'd like the houses, the parks. There's one street with all these cool fountains."

Their differences only brought them closer to each other. Not even the Fates could weave their lives with thorn for their love was as strong as the rose on top.

"This is where he struck the earth," Annabeth said, "where he made a saltwater spring appear when he had the contest with my mom to sponsor Athens."
"So this is where the rivalry started," Percy said.
"Yeah."
Percy Pulled Annabeth close and kissed her. When he pulled away, Annabeth looked like a fish gasping for air. "The rivalry ends here," Percy said. "I love you, Wise Girl."

Wise Girl.

He'd called her Wise Girl.

"Why?"
"Because you're my friend, Seaweed Brain. Any more stupid questions?"

Seaweed Brain.

Percy heaved in a long sigh. He tightened his grip on Annabeth's hand. He could already feel his life fading away.

"I love you." He whispered quietly. He wasn't sure if she heard but he wanted those words to be the last one's he ever spoke.

He looked down to see her smile. He wanted to see it just this last time. Such a beautiful smile.

He remembered what Annabeth had said so long ago and drew in a slow breath. His last breath.

"I want to do that," she sighed.
"What?" I asked.
"Build something like that. You ever see the Parthenon, Percy?"
"Only in pictures."
"Someday, I'm going to see it in person. I'm going to build the greatest monument to the gods, ever. Something that'll last a thousand years."

Something that'll last a thousand years.

Something permanent.
