"Luke! Come back here this minute!"
"You'll have to catch me first!"
Annabeth started giggling at her new family, her eyes flying all over the place as she watched Thalia chase Luke Castellan around the forest. For a normal person, chasing each other around in forest as if nothing was of the matter would've been quite alien but Annabeth wasn't normal. That much she was sure of.
Luke was waving a little book in the air tauntingly, reading out from it in random moments. "Dear Diary-"
"Luke!"
Luke let out a loud laugh. "Dear Diary," he continued. "I know it's been a long time since we talked but-"
"That's private! Put it down!" Thalia shouted, jumping up and down trying to get the diary from Luke who was holding it up in the air, put of her reach.
"But there's something I need to tell you. Today, I ran away from home-" he must've realised something because he paused and didn't continue on with that diary entry.
Instead he bent down to Thalia's height, hands still holding the book over his head and turned the situation around into that of a funny one.
"And met the most handsome guy ever to have lived on this world." He said with a smirk, making up the line.
"Yeah." Thalia admitted. "You see, that day I met Mr Pine Tree and he was very handsome."
"Mr Pine Tree? So it wasn't me?" Luke asked, feigning hurt.
"Nope! Now give me that cursed book!" Thalia shouted angrily.
Luke merely laughed, turned around and yelled, "Annabeth, catch!"
The book came flying at her. Annabeth almost fell over her self trying to catch it but she did catch it. Thalia was now rushing towards the little blonde girl.
Annabeth giggled and started running away from her. She heard Thalia laughing behind her, "Come here, you little monster."
Annabeth was only half the age of Thalia so the older girl easily caught up to her. She tackled her to the ground and started tickling her.
"L-Luke!" She stammered between bursts of laughs, sliding the book on the dirt towards him. Luke lunged and picked it up, rolling back into a stand.
Thalia looked between them exasperatedly then she picked up an imaginary dagger and held it against Annabeth's throat, holding the girl inside her arms. "Luke Castellan." She said, trying for a menacing voice. "Hand over the bounty or the girl gets it."
Annabeth couldn't stop laughing. Luke dropped to his knees dramatically. Thalia ran over and pulled the book out of his grip.
"Oh come on Thals! I wanna read all your little secrets!" Luke protested.
Thalia stuck her tongue out at him immaturely and shoved the book into her bag.
Luke sighed in resignation. "Alright! I'll lay off!"
Annabeth lifted herself off the dirt and dusted herself off, still laughing internally. "Are we going to make another safe house here?" She asked them.
"The place looks good enough," Thalia decided. "We could easily hide ourselves in all the leaves and tree roots."
"We'd better get to work or it'll get too dark." Luke suggested. "Hey kiddo, you okay with getting a bit of wood and branches for us?"
"Yeah!" Annabeth agreed instantaneously. When she came back, arms full with twigs and small logs, Thalia and Luke had already started on the walls.
