"Make a wish, Percy."
Percy looked up at his mother's kind eyes. "Anything?"
Sally laughed. "Anything."
Percy looked back at the blue cake in front of him. He thought for a second before taking a deep breath and blowing out the little flame on the candle.
Percy's mother cheered and clapped. It was only her celebrating his fourth birthday with him but it was enough for Percy. She was all he needed.
He threw his arms around her neck and gave her a big hug.
"Mommy?"
"Yes Percy?"
"I wished for you to be the happiest person in the world."
Sally smiled at her little boy, now all grown up.
She didn't know how she remembered that day so long ago in such detail but it didn't matter now.
She really was the happiest person in the world.
"Tyson, no!" Annabeth all but screamed. "We don't add in the blue food dye yet!"
Tyson looked at her, confused. "But I thought we were making big brother a blue cake."
Annabeth laughed. "We are. We just make it blue afterwards. For now, all we need is the flour."
"Okay!" Tyson agreed cheerfully. He took the flour and added a whole lot into the bowl before Annabeth could stop him.
"Now what?" He asked eagerly. "Peanut Butter?"
"No," Annabeth said with another laugh. "Now the eggs and the sugar."
"Eggs. From the chickens?"
"Yes, eggs from the chicken." Annabeth assured him.
"Not drakons?"
"No, not drakons!"
"Okay!" Tyson brought out the eggs and cracked them into the bowl.
After a few more minutes of figuring out which ingredient was which and nearly exploding the kitchen oven, they had a huge blue cupcake ready on a paper plate, sitting on the work top. It was definitely misshapen but Tyson was pretty sure Percy wouldn't mind.
Annabeth smirked at him. "Ready to go and give it to your big brother?"
Tyson smiled at her and shook his head. "No. You should give it."
Annabeth frowned but Tyson had already pushed her out the door to the camp kitchen.
He sneaked out to watch her give it though. He saw just how happy his big brother was and how much he smiled when Annabeth gave him the cupcake.
When she kissed him, Tyson knew for certain that it had been a good idea to make her do it alone.
Tyson grinned at his brother when he looked his way. Percy grinned back at him.
Ella the harpy giggled beside Tyson, watching the exchange but Tyson was too busy remembering that day.
Yeah, making cupcakes for Percy was definitely better than making things go boom even though he did make a few things go boom in the kitchens while making that cupcake.
"Grover!" Grover didn't realise Juniper was hurtling towards him at a million miles per hour before it was too late. Juniper gave him a hug, as tight as the hugs Grover got from his mama satyr, and the camp exploded in cheers.
