Chapter Eighteen: Hello

"What did you expect, coffins and dungeons and moats?" Edward asked Bella as they entered the house. Alina and Jasper were sat in a tree, watching their brother with the human.

"No, not the moats." Bella looked up in awe.

"This is the one place we don't have to hide." Edward explained as he showed Bella the massive windows letting in light to the living room where the rest of the family waited to meet them. Esme had made Rosalie and Alice help her make some sort of Italian dish for Bella. Emmett stood watching and Carlisle cut some vegetable Alina didn't know the name off. "I told them not to do this."

"I suppose we better head inside and introduce ourselves before Rosalie kills her." Alina hesitantly said, not wanting to, "not that I'd be opposed."

Jasper silently nodded, before grabbing Alina's hand and jumping from the tree and onto the windowsill. The pair of them used this as their entry way.

"And this is Alina and Jasper."

"We've met."

"It's a...pleasure to meet you," Jasper strained out, hating everyone minute of her being here. He was making this thought abundantly clear, his thoughts practically screaming it at his brother. He still couldn't comprehend how he thought this was a good idea. It would just be better if he tore her jugular out and-

"Sorry," Carlisle apologised at the pairs shortness in conversation, "they are the newest vegetarians in the family."

"All right, I'm gonna take you on a tour of the rest of the house." Edward said, leading Bella away from the rest of his family, still tense from Jasper's thoughts.

Rosalie glared at their retreating backs, before shooting Esme a look when she told her to clear up the mess in the kitchen where she had smashed a glass bowl in her hands. Emmett stood up to help her get the mess cleared quicker.

Jasper had finally managed to loosen his grip on Alina's hand. If she was human, every bone in her hand would've been as broken as the bowl on the floor, but thankfully she wasn't and she barely felt anything at all.

"Well I think that went well!" Esme said, trying to lighten the mood.

"I didn't." Rosalie snarked

Alina laughed at her snippyness "I agree with Rose. It was idiotic and selfish for Edward to bring her here. It could've gone so very wrong, and not only for Bella. Our entire family could've been put at risk."

"But it didn't... that's a positive." Carlisle was trying to see the lighter side of things. But he did agree that they were extremely lucky when it came to the outcome of the day.

"Edward should've been thinking outside of his own personal gain. He should've thought about all the possibilities for the girl. Now she's fated to two options. You know what Alice saw. She either dies or becomes one of us. And could you live with the consequences of either of those options?"
